Help: Acer Ferrari 3200 vs. Sager NP4060 custom

Thread Starter
I need some help deciding between these two notebooks for college this coming semester. I'll be using it for gaming but also for general school purposes. here is the basic comparison between the two (price is almost exactly the same on both)...

The sager has a pentium 4 3.06 hyper-threading proc while the ferrari has a mobile athlon 64 2800+...

Sager has 512MB PC2700 Ram using one slot while the Ferrari has 512MB but I believe it is 2 x 256

Sager has a 5400 RPM 60GB HDD while the Ferrari has a 4200 RPM 80GB HDD.

Sager has a built-in 3.5 floppy drive while the Ferrari has none.

Sager has ATI mobility Radeon 9000 graphics while the Ferrari has the ATI mobility Radeon 9700 graphics

Both have DVD RW drives

These are the main areas I'm concerned with. Basically it comes down to The sager coming out on top in RAM, HDD speed, and the fact that it has an integrated 3.5 floppy drive while the Ferrari beats the sager in Graphics and HDD size. They both have completely different processors but from what I hear they are pretty comparable to one another in performance. The ferrari also looks alot better than the sager. This isn't a big issue in my eyes but it's still nice to have a sweet looking notebook

If anyone has any opinions or information that could help me I'd appreciate it.

You can upgrade both the RAM and HD so I really don't consider that a big deal. I personally much prefer the AMD chip, the P4 might be a little more powerful but i believe battery life suffers on it. Floppies... No one really uses them anymore... Just use USB keys or something much better, lol.

I'd definately pick the Ferrari if i could, though I hear they're on hardcore backorder since so many people want 'em so... might take a while to get.

you might want to wait untill some more people get the 3200 and see how well it runs, espicially for people to try upgrading it.
