WideScreen 17" Sager?

Is there any rumors about future Sager models?

Clevo announced 17" WXGA, 3GHz HT notebook (D470W model).

Also one thing worries me, Clevo model has only 120W AC/DC mode and I am from Europe. Is there any way to have 240/220 AC/DC with this model?

Also some other manufacturers announced 17" notebooks (HP with WideScreen, Acer)....

They're looking at wide screen options I'm sure.

The AC adapter is auto switching and will work with every normal power source of all countries I've come across. All you need is the plug adapter for the outlet.

I know that most of adapters are universal - auto switching. But if you take a look on press release, it is shown just 120 at the specs for this model, and for all others are 120-240.

Clevo new D470

When i saw the specs on Clevo new D470, it interested me two thigs, sounds cool:
  • Sub-woofer
  • 17 inch WXGA
  • 6 in 1 card reader
  • . . . OK Three items interested me

I do not know how long will be the picture available, but mean while enjoy the preview of this great computer in my opinion:

(LEFT) Clevo’s new notebooks using desktop Pentium 4s: the 17-inch, D470W wide-screen notebook, subwoofer and 6 in 1 memory card reader !!! (the source of this article is showed above, but here is the link again about New Clevo's computers )

Great is not it ?

wow, that widescreen one is only 1.43" thick - that is less than just about everything else they offer. I wonder what (if any) of these notebooks sager will pick up

Here are more detailed specs:

http://www.eurocom.ca/products/futur...m?model_id=102

And images for lazy one who didn't read press releases:

Other thing is interested me:
  • 17-inch WXGA TFT; 16:9 aspect ratio; 1440x900
On Dell site, WXGA resolution for their WideScreens are:
  • WXGA (1280x800),
  • WSXGA+ (1680x1050)
  • WUXGA (1920x1200)
It's look like announcment of new VGA naming war to me

And this one cleared AC/DC confusion:
  • 120W; 100-240V, 50-60Hz DC output 20V, 6A

I was in love of 8887, but this new D470W, has bluetooth, Camera, 6 in 1 card reader, subwoofer, 17 inch widescreen, 4 speakers, 802.11b/g GREAT

But

  • Just 1 HD 60GB
  • SubWoofer OR TV tunner
  • DVD-R/W 1X
  • 64MB Video memory
  • Just 1440x900 resolution
  • 1GB top RAM (it would be cool to increese this mout of memory)
  • Sound chip Codec ALC201A (must be a soundblaster, or other better mark)
  • just one batter option

So what do you think ??
**** so where the tv tuner suppoce to be thats where the subwoofer is?

if so then im sticking with the 8888, screw 1 hd

I need more storage for my "Precious's"

This just makes the decision harder! Those 17" screens are awesome. The chrome look is by far the best case look I have seen

Display Manufacturer

Is it safe to say this the WXGA lcd is the Compal WXGA lcd (the one in the powerbook)?

This notebook needs WUXGA (1920x1200). I wonder what the chances of Compal making such a display before this notebook ships.
yea its the same display

check the native resolutions, powerbooks the same

m10

Any possibility by the time this thing comes out it'll have the M10? It's due to come out June, so does that mean there definitely wont be an m10 sager for months afterwards? They just announced all their new stuff that's gotta be lasting for a few months at least, would they launch a new 8888 with m10 so close behind the release of these?

Quanta or Compal

It may be a Quanta display. Both Compal (they make the powerbook display) and Quanta make or will be making 15.4" and 17" wide displays.

I haven't seen a shred of evidence that the 17" WUXGA displays will be made before the end of the year so the Clevo's first 17" probably won't go beyond WXGA :-(.

Otherwise, this new machine has incredible specs... and beautiful case from the pictures so far.

I am really glad to see the subwoofer and better speakers! I hope the new Sagers offer this as well.
The built in camera and 6 in 1 Card Reader is also pretty sweet.

except for the sis chipset.....

sis chipset

I don't know about the sis chipsets. How do they pose a problem? I know that sis chipsets with shared video are really bad for audio work (something that's important to me) but the new machine doesn't have shared video.
