a51m owners with linksys wpc54gs?

Does anyone with this wireless card notice that it takes minutes to start up windows when the card is in? I tried the wireless b card from my other laptop and that only took a second or two longer than normal. I don't know if this is normal or not...

That card along with a long list of others will f up your system. Just wait you will get a blue screen soon talking about IRQ_NOT_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL.

It's only a matter of time...

just use any one of these drivers and your BSOD probs will go away:
ftp://ftp.linksys.com/pub/network/wp...lity_v1.21.zip
ftp://ftp.linksys.com/pub/network/wp...ility_v1.2.zip
ftp://ftp.linksys.com/pub/network/wp...ility_v1.1.zip

Nope, I tried all those drivers and they all BSODED. I am now running a Netgear WG511 and it has been 5 minutes and no crash! I'm not out of the woods yet, but this is as far as I every have gone. I talked to a REP today and they told me they recommend the Microsoft adapter (but that made me crash just as fast as the linksys) He said he heard that the Netgear is compatable and any card using the Broadcom chipset will cause these BSODS. Apparently the Netgear uses a different chipset that starts with an "A". Arthos or something. Anyway it's been 7 minutes and I'm still ticking. We'll see. I'll let you all know tomorrow.

Peace

It's the Atheros chipset. That is the same chipset that was originally offered in the 51m as an internal solution, but I believe linksys also uses that chipset, so i dunno what the deal is. I have an ABG linksys card that works perfectly, but it uses different drivers than the standard G card...

I have the same card (wpc54G) and tried 2 scenarios..
When using drivers directly from Xp, usual plug and play option I had that blue screen come up and crashed my system, but once I placed drivers from disc that came with pci card box I haven't had a problem since. Wlan monitor ver. 1.3 comes out and has good interface. Will continue to oberserve next couple of days to see if I get any errors.

when you tried those drivers I listed above, did you remove the old driver first or just do an "update driver"?

I found that if I just "updated" to the older version I would still get BSOD, but if I removed the driver first then I had no problems.

Also you didn't run a windows update by chance after installing those drivers did you? MNirosoft was trying to push out the driver version for that card that caused the bsod.

one last thing: You may want to try the beta drivers for the ti cardbus adapter on linksys's website. some have reported success with that version.

I too have these problems. I tried the beta drivers but they give me the same bsod errors. I have now tried the Accellerator versions from another thread in here and so far they seem to be stable I will soon see over the next few days. (Or maybe hours).

Damn I_Core nice Avatar!

Well, I ended up browsing the web for over an hour last night with no BSOD. I think my journey has finally come to an end.

Dont use the linksys drivers with the wpc54g(s) card!

use the drivers for xp, and use the wireless autoconfiguration utility to make your wireless connection.

you'll need this update:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

ocne you have the update right lcick on "my network places" right click on "wireless area connection" select "view available wireless networks"

chose your SSID or enter your info here.

I assume you Linksys wi-fi customers have the corresponding Linksys wireless router so check out this link to stay-up-to-date security wise:

Jamaster, on inserting the card it requests "LSBCMNDS.sys". I guess this is apart of Linksys Install cd. So where do I get the driver from if I don't use the Linksys drivers..

So I updated my WRT54G firmware yesterday...and I CANNOT my WPC54G card to pick up anything lol. So in an act of haste I activated the internal Alienware A/B combo card and booyah EXCELLENT signal strength. Now that is weak lol. I shoulda have stayed with Orinoco but I get Linksys stuff for sooooooooo cheap lol

oops... sorry allow me to correct myself... you want to install the drivers off the CD..

let the hardware wizard run and point to the CD...

BUT do NOT isntall the linksys software and all the extra drivers!

user zero wireless configuration servoce built into XP to connect with the card.

Thanks Jam, got that same info from linksys. Did exactly what u and linksys said.
Dont install utilities from linksys cd just drivers. Xp has its own utility for wireless connection and will conflict any other programs placed thus the error. its been 10 min and looking good.

Spoke to soon, Its still giving me error just using drivers in disc. I believe I have tried doing the xp scenario setup as well ( zero W autoconfig) both dont work.
Im working with linksys tech using old drivers. If this doesnt work then ill get netgear since you mentioned it doesnt have any conflict problems. Guess thats the only solution if old drivers for linksys don't work.
