My dell lappy is overheating. The guy who maintians the computer where my father works checked it out and said it was the fans. So I hopped on Ebay and got a secondary fan and a Fan Heatsink combo.
Turns out the fan on my heatsink was messed up but the heatsink that I got off Ebay ran hot. So I put the good fan on my heatsink and its all good. However the secondary fan will not turn on. Ebay one or the old one. Since the printer and VGA ports on the back stay hot I am guessing that its the fact that the secondary fan is not running.
I found a little application to make the heatsink fan run when I want it to and then I can turn it back off. It has a setting for the second fan but it will not turn it on.
Do you all think its the connection on the board instead of the fan itself?
It wouldnt be a problem but I plan to install Red Hat on it soon as my AW gets here (pokes vendors with the hard drive and black case in the butt to move them faster
)
Thanks
Craig
