Installation HELP!!

Hey. Just got my 8790 about a week ago. Everything is awesome, but I am having trouble when installing games. When installing the full version of Far Cry or Tigerwoods Golf, when asking to change the discs out to continue installation, the PC freezes and I have to shut down the PC and start the install all over again. Far Cry is 5 discs, and I can't get past the 2nd install disc. Any suggestions? I have all XP updates and all driver updates available. I have tried to get the install shield updates, but I'm not sure which ones I need. It's not very clear cut on the installshield web site on what updates are available. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If the system "freezes" after the new (2nd) disc is inserted; I would suspect a bad/unreadable media for that disc. Try installing it on another computer and see what happens.

The same thing recently happened to me. I called thier support. I was told it had to do with the DVD-RW and/or CDRW and to turn off all services except the required ones. That didn't work so I went the MSCONFIG route and disabled everything except XP basic stuff. That did it, and install went great. After installing, undid the msconfig changes and rebooted.
Great game by the way.

Make sure any burning software is disabled, I was told our drives are not supported? Check if there are any hardware updates available for your drive.

Also check to see that Nero Incd program is not installed. It will cause lockups.

Had a similar problem with installing Enter the Matrix. I just made a temp directory on my C Drive and took each disk and did a copy and paste to the temp directory. I then did my install from the temp directory.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the replys! I called Sager for help, and to my surprise, the called me back within 3 hours of reqeusting help. This impressed me. I hope I get service like this all the time (or more appropriately, when I need it). They told me to uninstall Nero InCD, because that was causing the problem. I did, and voila! Easy as pie, and nothing too drastic. Thanks for the help!!!
