VAIO Type S - Page 75

How does the battery last when playing a advanced game (HF2,D3,Kotor2)

also does the expanded battery look real stupid?
I haven't tried the extended battery for games yet, but I would imagine it isn't much better since games take a lot of power. The extended battery makes it slightly easier to carry as well as gives it a better angle for typing. Another nice plus is that it lets more air circulate under the computer.

Bluetooth and Infrared upgrade for sony vaio s series

I notice that a lot of people have upgraded their machine to accept bluetooth. But did you know that there is a hole on the right side of the notebook that accepts the infrared upgrade as well? Did anyone ask Sony parts for the part numbers? There is a nice upgrading page at http://www.edepot.com/reviews_sony_vaio_s.html

So again, what are the part numbers for infra-red upgrade?

Go to

where a link to a scanned version of the Service Manual of S260 is provided. See if the information in the Service Manual can help you on that regard.

Sure, you can do it. That doesn't mean it is either easy or reasonable to do. Bear in mind that the article doesn't say that they did it, just how they think it could be done.

What do I need to connect S260 to TV? Is vga-to-SVideo cable enough or any special devices?

I agree.. the bottle neck is mostly the hard drive, but that's doesn't affect the gameplay much.. only your patience.

hmm that's odd.. doom 3 played like POO on my machine.. same as yours but with a 7200 rpm drive and bluetooth added.

u wanna know whatd be sweet if they could stick a 6600 go in this thing at 4.5 pound everyone would want one (if possibible)

a x700 would be better as it uses only uses 13 watts (6600 uses 18 watts) therefore runs less hot

Half-Life2 Played very well on my machine. (Sony VGN-S170: 1.7Ghz P4M-512 RAM-80GB Drive-ATi 9700Mobility-13.1" XBrite LCD)
Looked great in widescreen mode. Doom3, however, keeps crashing. Wondering if it will play better with an additional 512 of RAM. Any input?
