question about compact flash PCMCIA adapters and IBM laptops

Thread Starter
Hi, all. I was wondering if anyone knows of any potential conflicts that might arise between a Compact Flash to PCMCIA adapter loaded with a compact flash memory chip and an IBM laptop.

A friend of mine was told by a sales clerk that using one of these adapters on a T23 would cause the system to become unstable. I've never heard this, and I've run a similar setup on a Dell Inspiron 8000, but I wanted to get confirmation before I tell my friend that the sales guy doesn't know what he's talking about.

Also, can anyone recommend a good brand of adapter?

I picked up a PCMCIA adapter clearly labeled MACALLY for MACINTOSH. Did not even list Windows in the system requirements. PLugged it in to a laptop running windows and works flawlessly.

Chances are that the sales person was trying to sell your friend something that costs more than the $12 adapter and was simply advising against it to make a sale.
