Thanks for the info. For me the constant brightness between battery and AC is much nicer.

I have a question on memory that is probably burried in this forum somewhere, but here goes.

Is the 512MB split or a single module, and is it possible to just upgrade the single chip on the bottom. Is it dual channel? Dual channel requires an even number of modules of the same size, correct?

they are two modules 256mb ddr333. and no, they are not dual channel, so you can upgrade with one different

my record in 3Dmark05! memory at 259!! further more there are artifacts (at 262/265) and core at 518
my old OC with catalyst 4.11 was 250/486. now with new catalist 5.11 I've tried a new one! amazing! I did not think that I could reach that frequency!

Can you post your 3dmark03 score?
And your score in HDtach. Im curious how much faster the 7200rpm drive is. Just give me your high and low across the graph and the burst rate.

Also, how do you overclock the ati card? Does it have a registry hack like coolbitz?

now I don't have 3dmark2003.. you have to wait.. what about hd tach? is it free? I've hdtune

scroll down a bit to download it. It works really well, just do the quick test. Im really curious how much faster the 7200rpm drive is.

The ATI mobility app says I cant upgrade, and according to the acer driver download page, the preloaded drivers are the newest.

high 90-92MB/s
low 38-40MB/s
avg 69.3MB/s
cpu 2%
random access 6.5ms
Burst 214.0MB/s



hdtune-->the same!

Wow, thats a nice increase in performance. With the 64bit xp are there any driver issues I should know about? My work as an XP64 I can install, which I wasnt interested in until after you posted that. Did you drivers from ATI's site or acer drivers with XP64?

I'll post 3dmark05 scores when I can download it at work.

I think you're trying to install normal ati catalyst! but you can download ati mobility drivers

Can you run 3dmark or games with XP64 as it is right now?

I tried to run 3dmark05, and it says there are no tests selected and it wont let me select any tests. All it will let me do is the demo.

When I start 3dmark05 it says pixelshader 2.0 is not supported, is that why I cant run the tests, or do they not allow the tests to be run in the free version any more?

no, I've never played games under xp64.
