what do you mean by blue cast on some black letters? anyway for me to test it out if it is the same with my notebook? thanks

I haven't noticed any JAVA problems, but I have installed all updates. I still have blue highlights on large, bold black text though. I'm sure this is a CT issue. MS never did get it completely right. If anyone can point me to where I can disable CT it would be great.

About changing to English disks, just go to an Acer Service Center and they will exchange the disks. The guy at the store said you don't even need to call ahead. I haven't done it yet, but I'll let you know how it goes.

Here are some pics of the velvet bag, inner sleeve and carrying bag.

wwwwwwkkkkkkkVVVVVVKKKKKKKKyyyyyyyypppppp

Just reply in this forum and type that. You'll notice the difference. There is a slight blue cast to the w's,V's and y's. On WM2003 there wasn't much of this, but on WM203SE it's terrible. I never noticed it much on my other PC with XP, but I notice it a lot on the 3200.

Can you give me a link to a JAVA site you're having trouble with?

you are right i see that too...totally missed it before...well maybe i wasn't paying that much attention..so the only way to solve it is to turn it off? any other way?

for java, do not open the java program in xp and launch go.icq.com in IE...i was able to do that without java program in the desktop xp but couldn't do it with notebook
both have SP1 so i dunno what's the problem....

http://www.java.com/en/index.jsp

Go here and download Sun's JAVA software. MS can't distribute it now. The site works fine after I installed it

PS- Not sure about CT, but that's the only way to solve the problem on the PPC.

Hm - I don't notice any blue cast to some letters on my Ferrarri. Maybe I'm misunderstanding, though. They all look the same to me - and ClearType has always worked fine, on the 3200 as well as my desktops.

If you want to disable ClearType pull up your Control Panel > Display > Appearance > Effects

And something that hasn;t been mentioned before on this topic, how does the dvd-r perform? Any troubles reading DVD"s burned with the super drive?
Well, I FUBAR'ed my 3200. I decided to switch it to English myself. XP installed no problem, but most of the drivers from Acer's site didn't work. The LAN, BT and WLAN don't work. PowerNow doesn't work as well and the video driver seems non-existent. I could just pop in my Chinese CD's and restore, but I don't want to open them since I will exchange them for an English version. Oh well, looks like I'll just have a good EMU machine until I swap the disks.

is acer showing any signs of releasing another laptop in the ferrari line? just wondering because if they are and the chassis is basically the same as the 3200, would it be theoretically possible to swap the graphics cards from one machine to the other, assuming that the next one would have a better gfx card than the 3200 (i.e. m18, m24 (i think this is the codename for the mr-x600), m28, etc.)?
Give them a chance the 3200 only hit the retail outlets 3 weeks ago!!!!!!!

They will continue the tradition of one Ferrari series at a time......you shouldnt expect a 3300 or 3400 until late 2005 at the earliest.
huh? retail stores meaning online retailers or actual physically present retail locations (i.e. compusa, best buy, etc.)? because if you can find it in one of the latter in either chcago (yup, i'm there right now) or somewhere in CT (that's where i actually live ), i'm gonna go there and try it out because from what i've heard the jeyboard is one of those love-it-or-hate-it deals, due to that weird contour thing. has anybody had some sort of experience with that?

i plan on buying the Ferrari 3200 here in malaysia.. the shop is giving me a call tomorrow.. Im also wondering about new versions of the laptop.. dont you hate that feeling when you buy a new notebook and then you see a better version in some shop window two weeks later?

How can you upgrade the cpu? i woult prefer a 3200+ rather than the 2800.
any ideas? or walkthroughs on how to do it if possible

And how can you get 256mb on a graphics chip.. i know that only these high end notebook vendors sell them but isnt it possible to buy a 256mb version and trade with the current 128 on the notebook?

any thoughts would be appreciated
The ferrari 3200 comes stock... not many vendors will make the mods for you. Pctorque might? I dunno. As for a 256 9700 mobility... do those even exist?

Just remember that the 2800+ is the low power version the 3200+ is not, i don't think so anyway. I think it'd still be a do it yourself though, 'cause the ferrari comes straight from Acer the way it is.

It is available in the UK from both online vendors and also retail outlets......I cannot speak for chicago or CT.

And with regard to the keyboard.........its not an issue and again has been exagerated by a few individuals...............you are talking about a very VERY minor curvature to the keyboard nothing more.

Its not like the microsoft ergonomic keyboard no where near as much.........i notice no difference typing on a acer keyboard than a normal laptop keyboard.

I cannot believe the posts are continuing here about an updated 3200 - its really pathetic get a grip on reality..........yes a new ferrari will be available next year probably.

ACER are having trouble making enought 3200's and you lot are looking for an updated version.............weird
post #158 of 1272
well i'm used to a lot of computer component companies having 6-month product cycles, so i thought that i would be screwed like i was with my dell (by the time it arrived at my house, something better was available). but i guess that acer's just too good to do that.

i guess that's gonna motivates you to swap it sooner eh, let me know which location you go to swap it and if they give you a pro version. thanks a lot.

I changed the disks today in "Gwong Hua", near the big computer street. It's XP Home. It took less than a minute to swap the disks. Tonight after I restore I'll post an update. Five more hours of work now.
