http://notebookforums.com/showthread...t=battery+life heres a little more insight, they get anywere from 3.5 by tweaking the cpu and gpu, to as low as 1 hour 20 minutes playing games, and over 2 from dvds, and this is the DTR version of the cpu, i had higher expectations form a truely mobile cpu.

Here's what The Inquirer said about the battery life in their review of the Acer Ferrari 3200:
http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=16219

"Obviously running the large screen, DVD drive and input/output ports has a heavy effect on the battery, but Acer still believe that the battery will give you around three hours of usage and so far in tests we have found this to be true."

Just to get back about the L2 cache possibly being a misprint on the Acer website...

As far as I've found and heard, the majority/all of the MOBILE Athlon64 processors (not just 3200+ and up) have an L2 cache of 1MB...

It seems that just the lower speed regular Athlon64s maintain an L2 cache of 512 KB...

Post if anyone has found anything different...

Well, i ran the "Central Bain Identifier" (a AMD CPUID Program) and it shows "512k L2 cache" on the 2800+ that comes in the ferrari..if that answers your question.

I can also confirm that. When I run CPU-Z, it shows the L2 cache at 512kb.

Alright, if I find myself with a Ferrari in my hands I'll double check what you found...

As for now, I guess I can't dispute the fact that it has an L2 Cache of 512K... kind of strange though, can't find where it shows that on any of the "big" sites like www.AMDZone.com...

And yeah, I always write in green... I just save the formatting in a text file and copy it over when I go to forums... its easier that way...

The 62W A64-2800+ should be 1600MHz with a 1MB cache. Now I am curious as to why you're getting 512KB. Maybe it's equiped with a DTR proc instead?

just need to say this.. becuase i know many feel the same...

if pctorque would just give more options on harddrive and ram and stuff... well this would be a must buy to a lot of peeps...

It would certainly beef up the sale of this unit, making it even more appealing ...

No, it actually uses a Low Power Mobile Athlon 64 2800+ processor at 1.8GHz:
http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/...E11030,00.html

These processors have a 35W TDP (Thermal Design Power) and 512KB L2 cache, while the regular Mobile Athlon 64 processors have a 62W TDP and 1MB L2 cache. In comparison the DTR version of Athlon 64 have a 81.5W TDP and comes with 1MB L2 cache, so with regards to battery time the Acer Ferrari 3200 is equipped with the best possible AMD64 processor

Thanks for clearing things up for me snorre. I was starting to think that there was some conspiracy going on until I noticed that the AMD datasheet I was looking at was a few months old.
