Yes, the Acer Ferrari 3200 is compatible with most new Linux 32-bit distros, and also the modem:

Does Anyone know a good way to test if the RAM is truly running ddr400 in your Ferrari 3200? I just got a stick of 1GB Kingmax RAM that is supposedly pc3200 ram, but I'm a little suspicious of the relatively obscure brand...I've heard some companies label their RAM even though it is just old pc2700 RAM....

use a software like Aida32 or Sisoft Sandra to indentify the ram

CPU-Z - small, no installation needed to run.

IIRC, DDR400 is just speed-bumped DDR333...or is DDR333 underclocked DDR400? not sure about this, but i have heard one of them floating about these here forums.

Yes, i was woundering, is it possible to change the ATI 9700 with a 9800 ?

And in some while i wish to update my Prossesor so can i change it with a
3400+ or something? or do i need to update more to get a better prossesor?!?
unless Acer releases a 9800 upgrade card, no you cant put a 9800 into the Ferrari. and assuming that the 35w 3400+ A64 stays in a Socket 754 interface, yes you will be able to upgrade your cpu to that.

Yes, no problems whatsoever and I've tested them in at least 5 different drives including a stand-alone Pioneer DVD player.

[quote=Bootz]Yeah, I would say it scratches pretty easily. I noticed some teeny, tiny ones on my lid that I could only attribute to cat claws. (Yes, I have a cat that likes to hang out with notebooks.)

Bootz

Hi all happy folks!

When I opened my new Ferrari 4 weeks ago, I noticed a halfmoon "scratch" that looked as it had been done by the packing persons thumbnail... I then recalled that I seen a kind of loose threds on the black cover, and shure, the "scratch" whent off with a drop of alcohol (onto the cover ...)

Since then I have noticed some very thin scratches that I can't account for.
These scratches completly dissapered after treating the Ferrari the same way that I treat my Corvette (Zino Broos car polish). The cover is now as reflective, scratchless and slippery as my cars hod and I them booth.

About the battery cappacity, I followed the instructions about dis-/charging but the battery lifetime was just 2 hours. After downloading the battery saving programs update (PowerNow), I stil didn't get more time on battery.

Then I tested/cycled the power settings (Fn+F3) on battery and AC, and found to my surprice that "Minimal Energy saving" was the "Best Energy Saving" in reality. Set "On Battery" made the CPU run at 100% cpu speed with battery, and when connected to AC it went down to 44%. Now I have about 3 hours battery time. Quere behaviour...

Could I check which medias you have been able to get the burner to burn at a full 4x speed? I have the same drive(uj-825) and have experienced problems finding compatible 4x dvd-r medias.. tried riteks and piodatas, ritek recognised as 4x but took 30 mins to burn, piodata only recognised as 2x.
both the above media types were recognised as and burned well in my desktop's 4x lg4040b burner.

tried sonys and mitsubitshis as well, these burned faster, but a weird thing i noticed was that it burns slowly for the first 10% or so of the data, then at 4x for the rest. As a result, a full burn takes about 17-18 mins as opposed to 15 mins for a usual 4x burn.

hope someone can share their experiences with the drive, thanks!

exactly what happens to me

I do believe thats normal for pretty much all DVD+/- Writers at their full speed. Try Nero DVD Speed and simulate a write on DVD-R, the graph should resemble a standard Z-CLV.
