Acer Ferrari 3200 or Cl56?

Question to anyone in the know. First off, is it possible to buy a notebook hard drive (40/60 gig 7200 rpm) off newegg.com and swap it out from a notebook easily? If that is the case which would be a better deal for a university student who is also an avid gamer? Should I buy a fully loaded CL56 or a Acer Ferrari 3200 and then swap out the hard drive and add 1 gig of ram? The prices are about equal at $2400 and please factor in the the pain in the ass i have to go through in making the swap. On a side note, I think I have given up on the Eurocom Python aka Sager 4750, seems to be delayed indefinitely. Any advice would be appreciated.

The Cl56 will give you 4+ hours of battery life. The Acer will only give you a little over 2 hours I believe. Therefore I beleive you should take that into consideration. However if you really dont care about battery life, then the Acer would probablyu be the way to go.

Add in one other question, as well: can the memory be DDR 400 instead of the 333?

the chipsets right now can only make use of DDR333

Unless you like a really really red laptop, i would get the cl56. Also the cl56 looks better in person than the pictures do on the web.

Battery Life is kind of important since twice a year I fly from somewhere in north america to the Philippines where my dad works and it is a 36+ hour flight. I would be nice to have a laptop during that time. Also the red paint does look pretty slick but at the same time seems a bit corny with the whole Ferrari - Laptop theme. I don't mind the look of the Cl56 and did consider getting one painted from hypersonic, but that seems too expensive (around $300) and hypersonic takes like a month and a half to deliver. Powernotebooks.com, where I plan to buy from claims to take only a week to deliver. Any one have any experience with them?
