P25-s676?

Well, today is my Birthday and the wife agreed to let me get my Laptop

I was dead set on the S670, but I took another look at the Toshiba site and their new top model is the S676

Apparently, the only difference I see listed is that it has a 3.4 chip rather than the 3.2

Is there anything else in the system that would make the $300 price difference worth it

Umm, doesn't the S670 come with the same

You are right. Methinks the 670 is doomed consisdering the rebate offer.
If there is any other advantage they're keeping it a secret.
It's funny but the dimensions have changed slightly in the specs. From 1.4 to 1.57 tall. (?)

Taller feet, maybe, for better airflow?

Hmm, according to Comp USA's site, the S670 comes with an integrated a/g wireless and the S676 comes with a dual Wifi a/b/g wireless (whatever that means)

As we dig a little deeper . ..
The 670 specs out with PC2700 SODIMMs = 333MHz
The 676 specs out with PC2100 SODIMMs = 266MHz

I'm no expert. Does this make a big difference?

Well, I called up Toshiba to place my order and they said the S676 won't be shipping till the end of June

Now I can't decide whether to get the S670 on sale now or wait for the S676

I have the s670 and it has pc2700 ram and can take advantage of pc3200 as is sports an 800mhz front side bus.

I disabled a bunch of stupid start up programs and file indexing.

It runs all my games better than my wifes new Sony Model: PCV-RS530G desktop.

Look around on the web for reviews and specs.

Glad to hear it

On Wednesday, I bit the bullet and ordered up an S670 from Toshiba Direct along with a 4 year system guard extended warranty

Unfortunately, because of the Holiday today, I won't be seeing it until Monday

Hey snakeman -- welcome to the toshiba community. The p25 models sure don't seem to have any of the problems that some of the other lines of toshiba's are (apparently) experiencing.

Remember if anything goes really bad with your software setup you can always use the recovery dvd and get the machine back to the way it came from toshiba. That being said, here are a couple of things to check on.

1) What version of os did it come out with? I upgraded my p25 607 to the MCE 2004 yours may ship with that already installed. (But of course mine is multi boot and I am usually running 2003 server).

2) Keep your antivirus updated regularly and install a firewall of some kind ( zonealarm recommended they have a free version which works fine and a pro version with some nice but optional features).

3) Do the windows update thing after you have made sure antivirus is up to date.

4) Turn off the automatic updating feature.

5) Get familiar with the accessories -> system tools -> System Restore where you can create recoverable restore points before putting in more software.

6) For real important data back it up (somehow) either burn it onto cd's or dvd or get an external harddrive of some kind ... of course many people just have data that they can stand to lose.

OOOPPPPSSS I am forgetting the have lots of fun with your new toy part!

P25-s676

In addition to the media center remote, the P25-S676 comes with a small non media center wireless remote that utilizes the IR sensor on the front of the notebook.

I sent back two S670's cause of dead pixels and finally ended up with an S676 for the same price
