yaa it just keeps getting better

the motherboard on this thing is based on nforce 3 150 chipset, and compal makes the mobo.

got around 4400 on 3dmark 2001se, not bad for a geforce 4 go 420 with only 32mb of ram.

4400? good? for what? solitair? dig dug?

How's the screen quality?

Is it bright? glossy? How are the viewing angles?

thx.

So, I take it that this is different from the Compaq notebook with Athlon 64 where HP/Compaq crippled the CPU and ran it 32 bit (that a lot was written about)?? Which one was that?? (that I am referring to)?
Also, what is the speed of the DVD burner, and is it +R only?

?!??!

care to elaborate?

I can't remember which model it was, but it was an HP or Compaq notebook with Athlon 64 CPU running 32bit only, and was written up at Anandtech or Tom's hardware or somewhere, just can't remember where or what?
I figured from the benchmark that this couldn't be it.

heh i had a compaq 3000 series, viewing angles are perfect and the picture quality is nothing short of breathtaking...however the LCD ghosts, and I couldn't stand that lol.
dont ruin it for him lol, i bet he would have never noticed!
well it's nothing too bad, no ghosting in movies, it's just not a gamer's monitor, or card setup for that matter
post #15 of 19
yeah, he might gost while playing pacman or something!

Let the guy enjoy his laptop. Congrats on the purchase.

thanks, umm i would post pics except for no hosting

it is pretty sweet laptop.

when i run cpu z it registers as a socket 754 clawhammer athalon 64 so i dont know.

the motherboard is based on a nforce chipset and is made by compal

when i ran the 3dmark2001 benchmark i saw no ghosting, the speakers kick butt. the dvd burner is + only, not sure on the exact speed.

it is very quiet even with both fans running full speed.

best part is the extended warranties one is a lcd warranty covers down to 1 pixel being dead replace it no extra costs for $100 a year not bad considering the lcd panel to replace is $1400.

SO i am very happy with my purchase.

$1400 for a new lcd? the comp itself costs under $1100...oh wait, you're canadian....still crazy!
