Install RAID drivers if not using RAID?

Hello,
I've searched through the forums and I can't seem to find an answer to my question: Do I need to install the RAID drivers even if I have only one hard drive? Also, is there a way for the "Detecting Hard Drives" message with the spinning thing to go away quicker? It only lasts for 5-8 seconds, but would be nice if it was quicker.
Thanks in advance.

1. You don't "need to"; but you can install RAID-0 with only one drive. Make sure both switches are set to RAID on the Mother Board if you do.

2. Why? When you get a 2nd Drive, all you need to do is "rebuild the array" and all the data will be stripped accross both drives without having to reinstall anything.

3. I don't get that "spinning thing"; however, I have RAID-0 installed (Dual 60GB 7,200rpm drives). There is a slight "detection delay"; however, it is closer to 2/3 seconds rather than the 5/8 seconds that you indicate - I timed this delay earlier this week so that I could respond to another similiar query.
