Thread Starter
I am still in the shopping, I couldn't care for Compaq/HP but i went to HP Shopping and streached my budget a bit: 2 R3000Ts

Athlon64 R300T (cost: $1048)
------------------------------
Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 2.80 GHz
Microsoft(R) Windows(R) XP Home
512MB DDR SDRAM (1x512MB)
30 GB 4200 RPM Hard Drive
8X DVD Drive
54g wifi
15.4" WXGA (1280x800)
ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 IGP
Microsoft(R) Works/Money
8 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
-----------------------------
OR
P4 R3000T ($1199)
---------------------------
Mobile Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 2.80 GHz
Microsoft(R) Windows(R) XP Home
512MB DDR SDRAM (2x256MB)
40 GB 4200 RPM Hard Drive
DVD/CDRW Combo Drive
54g(TM) Broadcom 802.11b/g
15.4" WXGA (1280x800)
ATI Mobility Radeon(TM) 9000 IGP
Microsoft(R) Works/Money
12 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
--------------------------
i think if i make the optical drives and HD even , the price would even out to +/- $50. Which one would you put your money on?

is there a typo somewhere in there? I see two P4s lol

Edit: The Compaq 3000 is overall a great chassis, P4 vs. AMD 64 for that system I would go AMD 64 for the battery life.

The Radeon 9000 IGP sucks almost as bad as Intel Extreme Graphics 2.

I ran 3dMark and 2 almost identically specced machines aside from graphics cardsl. The IEG2 got around 1820 and 9000 IGP got around 2150.

Dismal.

omg i just realized there is a $100 MIR on it too... drops price to $800.

personally i'd take the super mobility over the little bit faster / much more expensive system

Between those two systems I would go with the AMD64. If you care at all about gaming, I'd save up another $200 and get the r3000t dedicated series w/ Radeon 9600.

Best Buy had the eMachines m6805 on sale last week for $1250 after rebate. From what I understand, it's not the first time that's been offered. Don't know if it's being offered this week, though. Might be a good choice as well.

Super

i have the r3140 and well it is sweet, and i think it is a full fledged a64 since it's thernal power is 89 watts. havent tried ut2k4 but ut2k3 ran perfectly at 800x600 and no visible ghosting.
