Just ordered

I just placed an order and am confident about everything except the processor - there seems to be very mixed opinions on the processor!

Ok - so here's what I ordered ~

I8600
15.4" WSXGA+
1.6 PM Processor ( ???)
256 MB Memory (placed my crucial order today for another 512)
64 MB Video Card
60 GB 7200 RPM HD
8X CD/DVD Burner
Dell Wireless 1450

I know the DVD Burner is not necessary because, as someone mentioned, I really will be doing my burning at home - but still - it just sounded fun and I just don't feel like trying to find the best one of those after all my headaches with this!

Had I not gone to this site I would have never known about the memory thing or the benefit of 7200RPM HD nor would I have known what the WUXGA vs. WSXGA vs WXGA meant - all of those greatly improved my buying decision and I'm so grateful! I may have screwed up on the 1.6 thing, but I read in a post today that you can upgrade, so I can always think about that - for the extra $200 today to go to 1.8 745 - well, I just couldn't do it! I guess there's time to change my mind! BTW - scheduled ship date is 6/22.

Signing off - thanks!

Pentium M 1.6GHz will be fine for you right now (taking into account that 1.7GHz was top notch until May 10). I guess upgrading to 2.0GHz will be cost-effective for you in about a year. You should start looking at 755 prices around April, since who knows when Intel will start phasing it out.

that processor will be more than enough, you'll be happy with it.
