I usually run between 43~48. Usually 47 after its been on for more than 1 hour. My fans usually aren't on that much, or on very low. If I use Maxfan I idle around 40~42 (usually closer to 42). This is setting on the 'off' antec. If I take it off the antec, it idles about 1-2c higher (about 49)

My antec turned on with reversed fans will drop it about 2c on any of the circumstances.

It is a utility that puts your fans on full. Info can be found in this thread.

Here is the quote with the highlighted link to the zip, it only goes up to the 5680's, but seems to work fine on the 5690.

I am also confident that it cant harm your computer in any way.

Download the app HERE

It works great on my 5690. I turn it on JUST-IN-CASE, while gaming.

I hope you didn't leave the original Thermal Pad attached and applied AS5 around it. IF so - expect increased temperatures because you "screwed it". Use one or the other - not both.

No no... lol that would just stupid of me lol

I removed and cleaned the heat sink very well. And what I did was first applied AS3 then checked the temps 47-50, then cleaned again and then applied AS5 and I got the same thing and im just wondering if I put to much it makes it that high or if I put to little it makes it that high im just trying to get my the fans to turn off every now and then and they seem to run off at 40c and I don’t see it happening when im always running at 47-50

Could there be something wrong with my MB or CPU to run this hot all the time?

Thanks

omg .. i hope that i am wrong as i read your message .. did you apply as5 to the heatsink only ?

NO, I fallowed the gide here on the fourms and applied it to the CPU and the heat sink and then wiped it clean like in the gide...

I'm having a similar problem but with my 8890..I applied the AS5 and it seems to be the same if not slightly worse. Fans usually not going off, etc..
i read the instructions and it said that 200 hours are needed to cure it. so, if you run the machine 8 hours per day then it would take 25 days ...

I do Hope your are right because i dont want my fans to be on all the time.... its does get annoying and i dont want to have to send it back to sager to get a new MB and CPU

With AS5 the machine has to used REGULARLY. In their eyes, that means using the machine, then shutting it off, using it, then shutting it off. Wash, rinse, repeat.

So, whats the consensus here? Is it safe at those temps? My 5690 is 48degrees as soon as its turned on, and idles at 49. When surfing the web, its about 49 degrees. Playing games, it reaches temps of up to 68 degrees. Yeah, they do seem a little high... anyhow, are these temps safe/normal?

Note- The room temp around here right now is about 90 degrees F or higher.
yes they are definitly safe. my 4060 idles between 50-60 and sometimes goes up to 73 when i'm playing games.
90F is about 10C higher than normal room temperature of 75F. No wonder it starts and runs what appears to be a little high. Considering the room temp, it is probably running OK.

ok, glad to hear it then. My fans never turn off, so thats why I was worried. Arg, so hot in my house, my parents refuse to turn on the AC, and with this laptop next to me, it just makes my room even hotter!

Anyone have any ideas of what the breaking point should be, temperature wise? I guess I should say, what's the highest temperature you'd use it at? I know a lot of people here overclock, and that might be some useful info. I'll check my temps tonight when I get home and let you all know where I'm sitting.
