Know 4X is able to be used as 8X media by what standard??? Did someone tell you this?? Or is Nero reporting your 4X media as 8X by mistake??

We can't tell you since you never really said what the problem was if there is any. If someone told you 4X can burn at 8X then your wrong .. If you have an 8X burner and you only have 4X media that is perfectly fine .. In your burning software just manually select 4X as your burning speed and your fine.

Now if its all opposite and you have 8X media and its only being recognised as 4X media that could be because of the media (cheap) or a software problem (maybe Nero doesn't fully support identifying 8X media properly yet ..

You never said what happened when you tried to burn the disk? Did it fail? If so what kind of error are you getting ..

But in order to really help we need a better more detailed explanation of what actually going on and what your problem is ..

I Asked about 4x Media being used as 8x Media in my XPS due to the fact that Plextor's 708a 8x burner is capable of doing this type of burning @ 8x with 4x Media it is printed on there site...

I was thinking there MITE be a problem with one or the other... but I guess i wrong...an YES i did finish the movie...

Do you have a link for this? I wasn't able to find it. It would interesting to read. It seems odd that they would claim that since if the DVD media manufacture is only certifying the media is good up to 4X and Plextor says it can write at 8X then Plextor would be at fault if it fails to do so since the media wasn't certified for the speed.

Yes it exactly as I said .. Plaxtor says 4X media might work at 8X speed from their testing but they will not guarantee that it will since they have no control over the media manufacture or the process they use to make the disks.

If it doesn't work oh well. It was never promised.
