Sony A190 Bluetooth Quest

The point of this thread is to see if anyone has any solid evidence the A190 has or has not bluetooth...

ok, so I just bought a Sony A190, the final word came from the CompUSA guy that said it had Bluetooth built in. There are several things initially that lead me to believe there is and isn't bluetooth.

Leads to:
-Compusa guy said it was there
-Why would Sony leave a $5 part out that is automatically included elsewhere
-My cheaper Sony I just bought has it built in
-Bluetooth in Device manager hooked to COM4.
-Bluetooth in Wireless (Control panel)

Leads away from:
-Compusa guy said it was there
-I can see Sony leaving a $5 out just because
-My cheaper Sony (with bluetooth) actually has a blue LED for bluetooth
-I can not for the life of me get my HP5555 to see it, or it see the A190
-No documentation anywhere saying it has Bluetooth
-The A190 docs say "Bluetooth" is printed next to "Wireless lan" and is optional.

I dunno... It doesn't look good... I'm going to attempt to sync with my other Sony laptop. I use bluetooth a lot, my phone, my pda, my headphones, my printer; if it's not built in, I might just have to return it.

Hey Turanuk, I've gone to both Future Shop and CompUSA, and I say CompUSA blows even more. Although, that still doesn't say a whole lot about Future Shop.

From what I got from Sony, you actually have to buy the adaptor for it. It doesn't automatically come with the 190.

Did you look in the device manager? In the floor model I saw of the A190 Bluetooth was listed.

I'm pretty sure it isn't there. There is a little inch wide piece of plastic, by the screen release button that is exactly where the bluetooth indicator should be if sony keeps with putting the wi-fi and BT together...

What you see in the device manager is the bluetooth stack, a quick lookup of the company reveils it to be some type of device management or a queuing mechanism. I checked my desktop and it says the samething. If you click on the "hardware" tab, that's where you see the actual device. On the A190, there are none... on my other Sony, they are listed.

So, it almost official.. no BT... but what is official is Sony sucks

If it's not there, you can most probably add it if you're brave....I have a TR2 and I know people have ordered a bluetooth internal card and did some surgery and added it to their laptops.
