It is like mirrored-glass, IMHO. Anyhow, I don't seem to like any of the IPS technology LCD's. As for Mitac, this is the company that "swallowed up" Tyan. Tyan was a motherboard manufacturer for years.
What really bothers me is, if you go to the Mitac Taiwan website, for example, there are just an absolutely HUGE number of broken links. Almost everything leads nowhere. The only thing ANYWHERE on the 8050 on any of their websites is a marketing brochure (I am sure they used it for a tradeshow, Comdex, CeBit or somwhere) and even it is not completed. If you look at it it says something near the bottom about "need to get the logo for Windows XP Home, WHQL Certified", like this sales brochure itself is not even a final copy. Sorry, but this is really, really bothersome to me.
Anyhow, I emailed them (Mitac) and also asked what panel they use in the 8050. It is 8:50am in Taiwan right now. Since I emailed their main Taiwan sales office, if this was a regular sales office, I would expect an automated reply (which I didn't get), a reply saying "they don't know but will check into it" (within a few hours or so), or an answer.
Let's see if they reply.
