I do care, and I do like them a lot.
Howver, all that is important to me, and them is that I get a product that I will be happy with. If the HP weighed a little less, and was a little thinner, I would have ordered it already, just like I would have ordered the IBM if rcd had said that it didn't noticeably ghost. I wanted a "thin and light" but with good video card and good display, and built-in optical, and really great quality. The one 12" SONY I saw does not do it for me, so I have increased weight and screen-size until I found an acceptable product. XGA would be fine in a 12", but too small in a 15", and SXGA+, which is fine in a 15" is not fine in a 14". So, by process of elimination, these two are all that I have left to choose from.
That's where I am at, and, to be honest, I don't think that I am thrilled with either choice.
But, perfect laptop??? I do realize that could never happen, nor could any computer/electronics item of any kind. Always damned tradeoffs. The 15" HP nc8000 SXGA+ is perfect, EXCEPT its too damned thick and a little heavier than I really want, but I will likely have to live with it.
All that I can hope is that some things that I have learned will be beneficial to others in their decisions down the road.
