First of all, thanks to everyone who replys. You dont know how much this is helping me out.
Here is the situation: In November I bought a zd7000 with the p4 3ghz, 512mb ram, go5600 128meg graphics card and 40gig hd. also g wireless and 8x dvd. the machine has had numerous problems and has been in for service once, with no luck at all. HP escalated my problem, and now I am able to have the lappy replaced, but not refunded
oh well. anyway - the laptop is really for gaming and i had to go notebook, due to the very crowded accomadations of my house (plus the ease of hiding it from younger siblings) The unit got around 9500 3d marks in 2001se. I am looking for the best replacement from hpshopping.com
The possibilities:
ZD700 with go5700, same processor and SUPERxga screen
the AMD 64 system with the 440 64 meg vid card
the pentium m system (dont know the specs)
or compaq models
i asked about the cl56 - cant do that (darn)
i really want the amd 64 - seems like it will be more "future proof" ( ill be in college in about 3 to 4 years) - although i dont like the vid card at all, and there are no other options. but you guys are the pros, so ill listen to u

in fact, really enjoy making asses of the employees at circuit city. seriously, go for the top end one even though theres not much batt life.
3dmark01 was around 12,400 after bumping the clock speed up. Gets about 2:20 battery life also.
