Dell seems to be either running a promotion or have a pricing error. Anyways the 5100, 5150, 600m, 300m, 8600 and 9100s can be upgraded from 1yr mail in service to 4 year at home service for $140 (reg 300+). I've already upgraded my service plan. Hope this helps someone.

People, I highly recommend taking advantage of this if you are ordering, it is well worth that price! Thanks for pointing it out.

hmm might extend mine as well
Started playing around with it; seems like its less than $100 to extend from 1 year at-home to 4-years at home. Pretty darn cool!
Thats great! I just placed the order to extend my plan too.

Damn! They locked out the XPS from the promotion.

Yup 3 weeks ago too, they sent me a snail mail asking to upgrade to 3yrs at home for $200. This was a way better deal. Glad this is helping other people.

how long do you think this "deal" will last... i'm bout to order an 8600 tonight and i figure i'd save a lot of money if i just select 1 year mail in and then upgrade as soon as i can... i'd hate to do that and then this option be gone and i'd have to pay a lot more to go to atleasta 3 year... think its worth the risk? will i get my service tag right after i order? or will i have to wait till i receive the actual laptop...? thanks

Accidental

complete care with accidental damage with home 4 years $379
complete care with mail in and accidental damage 3 years $149
complete care with accidental damage and home 3 years $249
accidental damage has to be done by 30 days of invoice or you can't get it

First off thank you for posting this!!

I urge you guys to take advantage of this 4 year at home warranty upgrade ASAP. It is a mistake by dell and it will not take them long to correct it.
Don't fill out the form and wait for a return call...make the call yourself and reference the 4 year deal for $140. I just upgraded from a 1 year mail in, now I am covered at home until 05/27/08.

I ordered a refurbished 8600 on Monday with a 3-year mail-in warranty, and the site wouldn't let me upgrade automatically. So I called the number to try to upgrade it for about $40, and they instead wanted to charge me an additional $140 because it was an error. Instead, I had them remove my current warranty (gave me a $169 credit even though it only cost me $100 to upgrade initially), and then went back through that link and signed up for the 4-year on-site warranty for $140. So, hopefully, I came out $29 + tax ahead on the deal Signing up for a big (3-year on-site) warranty, requesting credit for it, and then switching to the 4-year may be the best bet if you're ordering a system in next couple of days. Any longer than that, and they'll probably have the site corrected (they've already admitted it's a site error).

.... This will hopefully make it easier for me to get service if the hitachi panel they've sent on my laptop is a dud (I'll let them send the parts to me, THEN I'll send back my system instead of sending in my whole system for over a week with questionable results).

It really does work.......my rep did the whole downgrade from 2 to 1 year and upgrade from 1 to 4 years in one shot for me over the phone without blinking - upgrading from 2 years at home to 4 years at home for $9. I'm shocked! Thank you!

I can't do it right now because I haven't receive my invoice yet >_<
Hope this price can still till that time
