I can't find ANYTHING I feel 100% with... - Page 2

No i havent, thats one thing i really hate about all these laptops.

YOU CANT SEE ANY OF THEM!!!!

I would be able to make up my mind so much easier if i could walk into a store and compare all of the different models that we have been talking about the last month or so in this forum.

I just want to touchy!

Im not good at making blind decisions when im tossing out ~$2500.
well if i could personally test it i would be 100% but that would make things too easy now wouldn't it.

if anything looks like "My First Laptop" it is one of those blue 600m Dell Inspirons!
i would be much more eager to buy a dell if they all didn't look like 'my first laptop'

i remember when they were black, somewhat business looking

when I was thinking about fisher price products the blue color on dells stood out on my mind the most... either that or the red on compaqs

really tho the BLUE thats on the CL is really a dark dark dark navy blue... most of the time this laptop to me looks like its all black. and only under really good lighting conditions do you notice the dark navy blue color... its kind of sparkly too so it kind of has a metallic/industrial luster to it

rince do you think the aopen is a better system than the cl56? (if they resolved the kb issue)
well they are both great systems and the aopen visually looks better...

they can be configued the same hardware wise and come with the same gpu/nice keyboard layout

to really come to a decision I guess you need to feel comfortable with the nitty/gritty/minor/small things that set them apart...

I've only seen certain angles of the aopen1557g so I cannot make a comment on how well placed its peripihial input/outputs are... but I do know from a side angle photo that the cpu exhaust is in a bad place that would effect my right hand if I were using an external mouse...

I gotta say, I think the AOpen doesn't look half as nice as the CL56 to my eyes.
ditto that.
well I guess the looks are subjective

but those 2 systems are very similar

they are among the only 3 notebooks that have pentium-m, 9700 mobility, and get 4.5-5 hour battery life
post #31 of 45
i think the better KB and the fact that you can get the CL56 from hypersonic with the good warranty means the cl56 wins.... barely

i just like the silver/black of the aopen, all my other stuff is this color too =/
post #32 of 45
same here

my desktop is a lian li all black brushed aluminum case

my car is a metallic silver color

oh well

it looks black most of the time (the cl)
meh. damn hypersonic and their $499 black paint jobs
post #34 of 45
heres a question about the aopen...what is that circular directional thing by the mouse clicky buttons?
its kind of like a mouse wheel to scroll up down left right
post #36 of 45
lol. clicky buttons.
hehe...what are the 'official' name for the clicky buttons?

I've done more investigating, and right now I'm strongly considering the Compal (sourced from HyperSonic). The performance seems to be very strong, it can be configured with all the items I require, and the price is right. I think I'll probably buy it without RAM, as I'm sure I can get 1024MB cheaper elsewhere. I'm definately comforted by their dead pixel policy and the 30 day money back offer. I also like the fact that I can buy this machine without an OS.

The configuration I'm considering is as follows...I'd appreciate your input and suggestions.

15.1" SXGA+ LCD
1.7GHz Intel Pentium M (Dothan)
1024MB PC333/DDR2700 (most likely from Crucial)
Hitachi 60GB 7200RPM HDD
ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 (128MB DDR)
Intel 2200 wireless LAN
CD-RW/DVD-ROM combo drive

I wouldn't mind having internal BlueTooth, a DVD writer, and perhaps gigabit ethernet, but I think I can be more than satisfied with this setup. Comments or suggestions?

Similar to what I have. I was a bit sketchy when i ordered, but i couldn't be more satisfied. The pictures on ibuypower really don't do it justice... its a nice dark blue with brush aluminum accents, looks great in my opinion. Performance is amazing, i'd always assumed that laptops couldn't perform that well due to heat issues but this pumps out way more frames than my amd 2000+ desktop.

I don't say this to justify my purchase, but to hopefully help somebody out that is in the same boat i was a few weeks ago...

good luck!
