Dell 8600 is there any other option? - Page 2

Viewing angles.

Ill be doing alot of presentation work and will need alot better viewing angles than what the current 15" sxga+'s can offer.

I would settle for wxga, but that just kills the real estate.

really been, i guess it comes down to what you're comfortable with.

right now i have 6 windows onscreen with my 1280x1024 work desktop. kind of cramped, but it works

wsxga+ is much nicer than sxga+ if you need the screen real estate. That's enough reason right there.

And I wouldn't call recent Dell build quality an urban myth. It is well documented in the Dell forum here as well as the official Dell forums. I had a Dell 8500 for exactly one day before getting rid of it, the keyboard was that bad.

That's another thing that sucks. I could go over and check a Dell out, see how it feels, but there are no Dell stores around. I guess I could drive to Texas...

Or I could buy one and return it...that may be what I end up doing.

lol, not if you can't find a wsxga+ system that has decent build quality and the m11/128 Mb, thats the whole point of all this

A guy at work has a 8600 that i was able to mess around with a bit. The KB wasnt anything worse than anything i saw at best buy. But with the amount of systems they are shipping out, im sure some really bad ones slip through thier less than steller quality controll process =)

I am not a huge gamer, but would like the ability to do so. The M10/128MB would be mroe than adequate wouldn't it?
Aikeo, yes!

That is the whole point, find a wsgxa+ with good build quality and a m10/11 128mb gpu.

This particular combo is like, illegal or something...
yeah, should be fine. what games do you like to play
post #31 of 41
m10/128 will outperform a m11/64 by a pretty good margin.

Worms...pac-man...you know, those demanding games like that

I like RPG's. I would get into Neverwinter Nights, Marrowind, things like that. Probably not Farcry, or UT, because I like playing games like that on my Xbox. But i hear RPG's are so much better for the computer than for any console.
althought Fable looks pretty promising for Xbox, and Marrowind was great for Xbox.
Kotor is awesome for either platform.
haha... how about Minesweeper. most demanding graphics ever

for RPGs like those, i think you'll be okay even with a 64 Mb 9700, and definitely okay with a m10/128 Mb

even with WoW coming out, i dont think it's going to be graphically more intensive than wc3 except that the models might be painted up a little better (from screenshots, i'm not beta testing unfortunately)

i think the 64 Mb starts to suffer only when you turn up the res on Farcry (above 1024x800) and expect it to keep spitting out 60+ fps

Roarak...you are right, KOTOR ruled. I loved that game, played it for Xbox...

Aikeo what is WoW...I have seen it talked about, but don't know what it is?
