BIOS Updates - 888E Series Notebooks (8882/8886/8887)

The following link takes you to a Clevo page which lists the latest BIOS updates for the different 888E notebooks (Sager 8886,8887).

If you have the 8887, you should have the green label being described which the latest BIOS is 3.05.128. The file link seems to be down at the present time however.

Also, I believe the blue label would be the 8886 model that Sager has sold in which the latest BIOS would be 2.02.

The link is as follows: ftp://ftp.clevo.com.tw/888E/888E_BIOS1.htm

Man, that 8887 is incredible... it's like you were trying to get the most pimped-out system possible...

Must be pretty sweet.

Which link is that, again?

OK, My 8887 has the green label, and I downloaded the new BIOS, but what's this supposed to fix/change, and has anyone installed it yet? I'm a chicken (cluck-cluck-cluck).

ALL 8887's will have the GREEN LABEL. Basically, that's what the 128MB m9's have...

None of the BIOS files listed on that page are for the 8880 model from Clevo. It's latest BIOS seems to be 1.06 and can be found here: http://www.clevo.com.tw/download/ftp...=8&submit=+GO+

Looks like there are 2 new 5660/5670 bios updates in the 5600D folder on the FTP.

ftp://ftp.clevo.com.tw/5600D/BIOS

Hmmmm, I wonder....

Someone else can be the guinea pig to try them on their 5660, it may have the HT Bios.

The date of the bios is 4/10/2003

Where is GSferrai?

For the 8887, we know there have been BIOS updates since 10-25-2002, and the 888E is the model that has the 16.1 inch screen, so I think the original link was correct.

ftp.clevo.com.tw/8880/BIOS/

looks like there's a 107 version dated 12/16/2002

There is a new 5660 Bios???

I'll try it out after my tests (enging on the 25th)

Will there be any changes in the Bios?? I just want to know what sort of updates they can really do to a Bios?

If I want to save my old bios how do I do it? Just in case the new one bombs and I wanna go back to the older set up...

ANY ONE KNOW HOW TO MAKE A COPY OF THE BIOS??

In the new Bios on the FTP server they have up there? Which is the one I have to install? There are three files there...??

Any ideas??

the flash application has an ability to save the old bios before flashing the new one. No details are given as to what is changed in the new bios.

I don't get it? I have read every post on updating the bios and have had no luck. After I create a bootable floppy, I reboot then type "Flash.exe" at the A:> prompt.
Then my screen hangs with a black screen and a blinking "_"? Is there something wrong with my 8886? I updated the keyboard firmware no problem but cannot
update my bios to version 2.02.

try flash.exe filename.bin

If you also have a fp.exe use
fp.exe filename.bin

that's the method I used.

The page seems to have been "killed". It's a bunch of broken links. Has anyone that was able to get the update tried it, and if so did it make any improvements. Give details of what this update does if anyone knows. I love my 8887 and don't want to hurt my baby!

The 3.05.128 works and installs just fine on the 888E (Sager 8887). The pictures choose to load sometimes on that page and sometimes not. All it shows is a picture of the blue, red, and green FCC labels. If you have a Sager 8887, you have the green label. If you have a Sager 8886, then the label should be blue.

Yeah, But what's this new BIOS do? What's it supposed to fix. This question has already been asked and not answered.

Any news on what this fixes yet?
