It looks I read this a little to late

I just bought a 1gig stick from 18004memory.com It said it was generic DDR333 with BGA type ram 16 x 64mb. The actual chips have KTI-50 KDLD86T4AA and the label has MSAD42D-D8IB3 MAA.
I installed it...booted right up. Checked out the bios as well as Windows and it showed 1.25Gb of ram. I played Joint Operations for 6 hours...no problems. I had had the system off and on all day. Then I was in Paintshop Pro 8 and then the mouse when off and everything frooze. Only way to stop it was to unplug the battery. I restarted, and was in windows for less then 3-4 minutes and it happened again this time in Windows Explorer. Did the whole unplug the battery to get it to restart....played with it for 10-15minutes and the same thing happenned again in Paintshop Pro 8. I took out the ram and put back in the Samsung 256mb stock stick and have had no problems for the 45 minutes I have been using it.
The only thing that I know that I did different from early in the day was I have a quad 60mm cool pad under my laptop to help with heat build up. I did not have it plugged in when I started getting problems with the ram. And when I removed the 1gig stick it seemed on the warmish side. I find it vary curious that it sounds like the same problems except your pc didn't even boot at all.
The ram was cheaper than anywhere else $245+s/h so I guess you get what you pay for. I am going to RMA it or switch it for some brand name ram.
I will try to see if I can get the 1gig stick to work and if I had a floppy I would do a ram test but all ram tests I have seen required a floppy to boot to.
