Free Antivirus? Firewall?

Anyone know of a free anti-virus and/or firewall software out there? I here there is stuff comparable to what is available from places like Symantec but for free... just don't know where to look. Looking to protect my new CL56 .

Also any other good freeware/shareware. I already got OpenOffice... but am looking for some more cool stuff... preferably clean and light.

Thanks

Install linux...everything is free ....a router is always a NAT, it will beat any firewall on the market. I'm not too familiar with free antiviruses though.

AVG Antivirus. Zone Alarm for a firewall (if you don't have a router). Both are free.

The free version of ZoneAlarm does a good job at controlling and identifying which/what program is accessing, uploading or downloading anything from the net/network.

I recommend AVAST... it seems to do an okay job of things, and is free for home use. for a firewall... there's always hardware solutions (smoothwall)...

Thanks. I went with AVAST after reading some other reviews. Still looking at the firewalls. The consensus for a firewall is ZoneAlarm?
