Dual layered DVD burner drives now out! Question?

Hey all-

I noticed on Dell.com lastnight that they are now offering dual layered burners in their notebooks and desktops, I didnt' realize that was going to happen so soon. So far I haven't seen them on any other computer company site as of yet.

Question: Is it worth it to consider a dual layered burner verses a signle layered one? Currently, when ever I make copies of a DVD that is more then 4.7GB in size, I use DVDShrink so I can fit the contents onto a 4.7GB disk and to be honest, the 'shrinkage' is pretty hard to see, I haven't found myself complaining about it yet.

Question: I have to assume that these dual layered DVD recordable disks are going to be expensive as heck and I just bought a 50 pack of Verbatim DVD+R disks so I don't want to lose my investment in that. Anyone know how much these dual layered disks cost and are the store selling them yet? I haven't seen them out yet.

Finally, if a person is going to be buying a notebook in the next few days, would he/she be stupid to not get a dual layered burner or is sticking with a single layered one ok? I was also curious if my burning programs (Roxio Easy CD & DVD Creator, DVD Decryptor and DVDShrink would work when burning onto a dual layered DVD with a dual layered DVD recorder?

I guess thats it, it seems that everytime I'm ready to make a decision on what I'm about to buy, something new comes out!

Thanks.

yes they are very expensive right now they where on may 21st like 13.00 a disk in japan.

also you might want to wait from what i have seen its only at about 2.4x right now.
and im not sure but i THINK i remember reading that your old dvd player wont read dual layer disks.

i use dvdshrink also and have no complints.
i burn with a plextor 708a with ritech 4x media that my drive is burns at 8x
so for 88 cents a disk that hard to beat
