I'm on a Sager 5660, and just bought the adaptec firewire notebook card wiht three firewire ports. My intent is to capture video via a sony cam.
I tried to access a western digital 80 gig hard drive, via firewire both 6 pin and on the Sager's 4 pin. I did a WD diagnostics and it said it had bad sectors, not sure how to fix that. But XP makes the sound but doesn't acknoledge the drive, i.e. i can't see it.
The second firewire drive works on a powerbook mac, it's called a smartdisk (www.smartdisk.com) but it doesn't even power on when connected to the laptop. It's a 60 gig portable external hard drive.
Any ideas on making all this work for video? Already went to adaptec to find a driver, but there aren't any, xp already detected the device and it's runing properly.
Thanks for your help in advance.
