4780 runs WAY too hot.

I've had my 4780 since January and one thing has become VERY apparent. This thing runs WAY too hot for regular usage. My fingers feel like they are on fire when playing any new FPS/MMO on the lowest graphic settings. I also think the heat is messing with the touch pad as it decides not to work occassionaly.

If I take out the TV tuner, will it reduce the running temperature?? If so, how do I go about doing it?

thanks.

Starting to read your post I was thinking "clean your heatsink!" but no you were talking about the keyboard.

This is normal and people frequently complain about the heat on the keyboard and left palm wrest. The graphics chip is right under the keyboard, this is why its so hot on the keyboard.

Removing the TV tuner is not going to solve anything. You may have referred to the card reader on the left side, I don't think its producing heat. The heat must somehow be conducted form other parts. I have opened mine up so that's how I know.

Usually I play games on an external keyboard so I don't really experience the heat.

here's what I do to keep my system cool. Firstly always make sure that you operate it on a stable solid surface, wooden preferably, when gaming I usually raise the rear of the machine, I use 2 empty cassette covers just under the rubber pads, be careful not to cover any of the fans, If I game really long, I raise the front as well, keeps everything really cool, I heard someone say that they take out the pc card cover and it helped, but the above works perfect for me. And I love this machine, its winter right now in South Africa, so the warmth on the keyboard is really welcome
