Guys, there is an issue with g-mail that you need to know about. They have security issues in that you cannot delete all traces of e-mail. A good hacker can easily go find your old e-mails that have passwords and stuff. Be very careful with important e-mails if you are gonna use g-mail.

I found a forum with a guy giving some away i set up a dummy email to get one that way i wotn get spammed to highheven.

Daegras, how does one not delete the email?

Edit: Nevermind. I Googled "gmail security problem" and found what I needed to know.

Doesn't seem like much of a security flaw to me. Sounds more like a stupidity flaw on part of the users for having weak passwords.

I had to write a paper on it for my c++ class this year, so i had to do lots of research and here's what I know:

Because these free mail providers were being used by terrorists, the government said that g-mail would have to keep a record of all e-mails that hit their servers. So basically, while you may delete that message that has your ebay username and password, or your buy.com user and pass, google has a copy of it on record that they MUST have. Thus, even if you delete messages, there is still a copy around...

I just want one to be cool. I already have an alienware so to be cool among the geek set I must also now obtain a gmail account weather i use it or not is of no importance.

Being an alienware owner you should undestand perfectly its just another stab at uber:geekness to say yhea i got a g-mail account 1gb of storage space for all my spam!

so there is no difference between this and say hotmail except they give you 1GB of storage?

ive neverhad spam issues of any kind, i still dont understand how people have spam problems

yes there is you dont have to be intived to get hotmail and everybody can get it its just a shot at exclusivity plus if you get in early you can have any email address you want before you end up with jamast_23432_2334@gmail.com

Woot Brain got some Gmail!

After all day of tryin I finaly got a Gmail account if they send me any more i will distribute them here. Or you can go where i got mine www.gmailswap.com and just put in something catchy and hopefully some good hearted person will give you one.

If you don't want it thats cool im just saying its an exclusive club right now much like alienware ownership and alot of people are trying to get in. Now im in I feel...... well the exact sam as before but now with 1GB of email space Im jsut gonan use it for buying stuff online and so i dotn get all those adds in my regualr email much the same way i was using my yahoo account.
