TV tuner errors out admin. tools

Thread Starter
this is in regard to TV tuner software.

after installing TV tuner software computer lost control of all administrative functions.

to test this on your machine (if you have installed TV tuner) go to ....

Start
Programs
Administrative Tools
and try to start Event Viewer (I got errors)

brought this to Sager attention since it was a repeatable event. uninstalling TV tuner returned control and eliminated errors.

best guess is software is doing something on a system level under services that causes a conflict.

suggestions?
ideas?

cheers,
Kirk

Is this with the latest TV Utility software from Sagernotebook's site? There have been two updates this year, the last one being the one that fixes issues with HT-enabled machines.

Weird. I have no probs getting anything in the command console-thing to run (Event Viewer, Disk Management, etc).

Could it be a bad Windows Install? Maybe the CD is corrupted? Sorry, I am at a loss here (as I do not get this error with my 8887 and tv tuner software).

I second that, myrkat. No probs here. Haven't applied the newest TV software yet. TV sudio has probs. Not Windows.

My 8887 configured exactly like Myrkat's except I still have the original video drivers works fine with the TV tuner software (current from Sager). Event viewer opens fine.

With me, uninstalling the tv tuner software caused major havok with MMC (Microsoft Management Console). MMC is what runs pretty much everything from Device Manager to your defrag utility... Reinstalling the program never fixes it, I always have to do a system restore. I'm trying to get to the bottom of it... It's happened at random with different tuner software versions (all the same software, just different releases, etc). I haven't tried uninstalling the latest HT release yet to see if that fixes it (I have HT), I'll post when I find that out.

Have you installed the latest tv tuner update? I tried loading PowerVCR today and I get an exception error when it starts. I'm downloading the update now.
