First see this thread http://notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=28572

Here are the pics I took at work today. Screen is well protected now, and I'm just in love with the glossiness of the screen I feel like I have a brand new LCD, I LOVE IT

Wow. Just wow. That looks really slick. Good show. Just how glossy is it though? If you're looking straight on at it with a bright light source in the background (ie, sitting facing away from a window and its a bright sunny day outside), do you get glare? If so, how much? Thats the only thing that would concern me about trying to apply a NuShield to my future 5690.

Otherwise, that looks really sweet

blah.. the installation is whats keeping me away. I know i'm ganna mess up and ruine it.
if you take it ut, would it leave stickyness?
naw, it doesnt use any glue, or else it would ruin the entire LCD screen.

play some games and let us know if the glare is bad

i bet it's unusable outside in the sun though

The current screen is unusable outside in the sun... believe me I've tried.

i'm talking about in the shade, i know it's still hard, but i'm curious as to how it is with the shield

i want this shield but want something other than having to stick it in between the panel and frame

The install isn't too bad if you go in a low dust environment. I just happened to be at work and didn't want to wait. If you do it right per instructions it takes 5 min max. It doesn't have any glue or anything, just "clings" on the screen.
Personally the glossiness isn't bad at all. In fact I put my shield on the wrong way because it's shinier on the backside. The other side is even less glossy. Last night I played painkiller in a dark room, with a strong kitchen light in the background and it didn't bother me one bit. It boils down to this, if you don't mind a glossy screen, or love it, you will be satisfied. IF you don't like glossy screens, dont get it.
I haven't played anything outside in the shade. I work in Washington DC and the last place I want to take a $2k laptop is outside in DC out of the case

Hope this helps!

does it enhance the screen in anyway? like brighter?

It enhances the screen quality, but it doesn't affect the brightness in any way.

Also want to mention their customer service is awesome. I had a very slight dent in the shield when I got it, today they're sending me a new film at no cost, without hassle.

Is there a particular size you purchased? Is it cut to fit or made for specific screens (do they have one for my AW)?

Hey flap, if you screen is the standard 15inch, it will fit. On their website, order the Dell monitor 15 inch screen. Thats what they call it but it's pretty much universal for standard 15inch screens.
If you need a custom size, contact their sales and they'll make a custom fit one after you give them your exact LCD dimensions
Hope this helps

Mine's the widescreen...but I'll give them a call and see what they say...thanks
post #16 of 21
They say that it enhances the contrast... does it really do much contrast wise?.. I have a 9880 with they non-glossy WUXGA (1920X1280) screen and am planning on getting one of these either way...

Very nice. I was contemplating about installing that on my IBM, unfortunately I dont have the guts to take my new screen apart.
You don't take the screen apart, its got "wings" that fit in the edges. For example, take some paper (a pamphlet maybe?) and fit it in the frame of your screen, you'll see there's space.

Here is the install process for the thinkpad.

There is some removal required.

Whats the point though... i mean. Yes its shiny, does it make the colors more rich? or what. Other than attract finger prints
