Can somebody translate my benchmarks for me?

I have no idea how benchmarks work or what anything stands for, or how to change anything.....
here are the details from my 8790

I used CrystalMark08, but I also had 3 downloads and DC++ running.....so I'm not sure how that affects my benchmark

Mark: 58242
ALU: 11397
HDD:4757
FPU: 10885
GDI: 11759
MEM: 14767
D2D: 4677
MEM R/W AVG: 2081.06 mb/s
HDD R/W AVG: 30.16 mb/s

I'm so confused here....haha

I have never heard of crystal mark, what is it?

Pardon my ignorence, but you should download 3dmark 01, 3dmark 03 and aquamark, since they are more popular.

They will give you results that you can easily compare with others. For example, with your rig, you should get around 13k 3dmark 01 "marks" or about 3300 for 03 and around 32000 for aquamark. Besides an overall score, each program should give more specific scores for cpu, gpu and maybe memory bandwidth.

Looking at your scores, it looks like the memory bandwidth is a little low, but the HDD is fine.
These scores are a little meaningless, since you have nothing to compare them to. There may be a database in that program or online that will show scores for different systems so you can compare results.

Hope that helps

ALU: Arithmetic Logic Unit (processor)
HDD: Hard Disk Drive
FPU: Floating Point Unit (processor) (or Field Processing Unit, I'm almost certain it's the former)
GDI: Graphics Device Interface (graphics card to bus, if I'm not mistaken)
MEM: Memory
D2D: Developer to Developer (that's the only acronym I know of for this)
MEM R/W AVG: Average time to read, write, and rewrite to memory
HDD R/W AVG: Average time to read, write, and rewrite to the hard drive

As for what is good or not, try searching for "ALU HDD D2D GDI FPU" on Google and it should give you sites with other computers' benchmarks posted.

thanks....I had a feeling this wasn't a widely used app.....

I'll get 3dmark....
