Hey, Aikeo... I was wondering... other than for the love of debate... you seem to be vehemently defending Mwave.com.... I was wondering WHY? I assume you don't work for them ^_^
post #103 of 113
im not defending them but i have ordered a lot of parts from them in the past and they've always been nice and very fast for me.

i dunno it kind of surprises me that people are willing to pay $400 more and still get a 1yr warranty on their lappy. i think maybe some people just dont know that mwave exists, or think they're some low-runner co that will be gone in a year. i have a feeling a lot of people are blowing them off as cheap, because they're cheap if you know what i mean.

you usually get what you pay for. End of story.

Hey guys I'm new

I think i've finally found my notebook, but i still have a couple questions.

What exactly is the battery life, for standards apps and for intensive gaming.

Also, if i get the 7200 HD, how much will that adversely affect my battery life?

thanks guys

I believe with intensive gaming, on the CL56, its about 2.5 hours or 2 hours. On battery life alone. With just regular computing tasks (surfing/chatting/word etc) up to 4+ hours. No idea about the 7200... probably not that much.

excellent, that sounds pretty good. Oasa, you are speaking from first hand experience right? you just got the cx5 just recently from hypersonic i remember.

also, i'm still not sure if i want the cx5 from hypersonic vs. the mayhem g2 from abs. the g2 is a mitac 8050, and quite cheaper. Then again it says the battery life is only 3 hours.

anybody know how these two machines compare? performance, display, overall goodness?

I believe it was stated that the difference is RPM (5400 to 7200) is 5-15 mins

For users faced with the choice between a standard 4200-rpm hard drive and a faster 5400-rpm or even 7200-rpm model, we would recommend picking the faster-turning drive. Although the battery life will be a few minutes less, the performance increase more than outweighs this relatively small downside. The mere fact that a notebook boots up faster when equipped with a 5400-rpm drive justifies the higher price, in our opinion.

::NOTE:: Hitachi travelstar 7k60 is 7,200 RPM // seagate momentus is 5,400 RPM// IBM travelstar 40GN is 4,200 RPM

I'm gonna repost this thing here:

Who can expertly compare these two notebooks?

I've pretty much narrowed down my choice to these two, although i'm leaning toward the Cx5.

Benefits of the Cx5: SXGA, .2lb lighter, 1+ hour battery life, dead pixel garuntee
Benefits of Mayhem G2: cost (~$140 equipped the same) , widescreen, upgrade to 745 dothan cheaper

So my challange for you guys is can any of you convince me to get the G2 over the Cx5???

P.S. - Still not sure of actual performance differences when similarly equipped. And is the G2's battery life only 3 hours???

Benchmarks off of a CL56 (Hypesonic CX5) with:

1.8Ghz Dothan P-M
1024MB RAM
latest Omega Drivers (2.5.5.1 i think or something)

No overclocking at all. Some members have gotten 90MHz overclocks on the graphics card core and still running stable. Their 3DMark03 score was 3400 ish I do believe. CL56 is not a slouch in performace terms at all.

I can't compare them, but I can give you some info on the CL56.
