Help me scam the scammer on ebay! - Page 2

Make sure it is the current generation 51m, and not a rebadged Sager/Hypersonic (Clevo chassis), those things are a dime a dozen.

That's great.

10 to 1 says he sends you a P-P-Powerbook.

So, robbie...what happens if an A51m shows up and this guy keeps using the pics (that aren't yours to begin with)? Doesn't that make you an accessory to the crime? I think you would been better off just reporting the scam to Ebay. If this guy is making $4500 off (multiple?)fake AW's, why would he care if he had to spend $2500 to buy you a new one in order to keep using the pics?

Good point.

First of all he will never send it. He does not have any. If he somehow figures out a way to go buy one with all the cash he has scammed off ebay and send it to me, then I will have his address to turn over to the authorities.

He has never even ask me for my address yet.

Of course I would never allow the picture thing to go any further than it already has.

As far as just turning him into Ebay, it does no good. He will just make another name, buy another fake Visa MC account to use as a Seller, then do it all over again with someone else's pictures. Ebay does not prosecute these people. They only take the listings down if you get to them fast enough. Problem is most of these guys do one day auctions or private auctions.

What I should do is offer him a free email account on one of my domains, and then get into his email and get ahold of any people he has scammed. I could actually solicit him a free email with a computer ending from my megabytecomputer.net domain. He wont know it is me.

Then he could be prosecuted.

Most of these guys put up an email outside of ebay and tell the buyers to email him there, then tells them they must use wire transfer or offer a discount for wire transfer or money order. The sale is made actually outside of Ebay.

He collects all the emails and dupes all the people that bid then closes the auction early.

Anyways, I think I will solicit the email for him now.
I could even call it alienwaredealer@mydomain.com or laptopdealer@mydomain.com and I bet he will jump on it.

I registered the name westernunionscams.com not too long ago. One of these days I want to get the site up and dedicated to scam stories.

Thanks for everyone's input. I will let you know if story takes any turns.

Cheers

Any updates on this story? I'm intrigued.

As of 7 am Eastern Standard Time I have no further replies from the scammer.

I did solicit to give him a free email at megabytecomputer.net set up especially for Ebay sellers of computers.

I even suggested several names. Dont think he has opened it as I have not received a read receipt back yet.

Like I said he wont send a laptop. It would be much cheaper for him to buy a camera and take pictures.

But we all know he doesn't really have any Alienware laptops.

BTW he has not put up any listings either.

Off to work a 13 hour day. Will post back tonight if I hear anything.

In my next life I am going to get more memory.

I agree with Flapjacks and would like to caution you that there is a chance that this guy may be legit. We've all read the p-p-powerbook thing and would love to catch a scammer ourselves, but you should be absolutely certain that what you have is a scammer before doing anything drastic. I just playing Devil's advocate, dude.

Ya this is turning too much into p-p-p-powerbook, but the only one whos going to get screwed is you.

The only way you can scam him is if he really does take your email bait, But if he already has a email address that he uses, he more then likely wont switch over to one that you tell him that he can have, so thats no good.

Like you said yourself, he wont send you a laptop, id be cheaper to take pictures. So hes just wasting yours and his time. If he did send something, like others said, you would get in trouble, so thats no good.

It was a good thought, but it doesnt seem that the scammer is getting scammed.

First of all, I am a Dudette. Just to clarify.

Secondy I know for a fact he is not legitimate. He stole a sellers account off ebay.

Now here is the latest. He did not respond to my email offer. Have not heard from him since.

I go to ebay tonight, he has stole another sellers account. Using different pictures but the same email. Has a brand new listing up.

I look at the pictures, they are stolen off AW site. But this time he actually linked the pictures directly to *******'s website. He is selling EmeraldIce's pictures now.

Remember his email said he only had cyborg green. Now he has conspiracy blue.

No way this guy is legit.

So this proves he is a big scammer. I was just leading him on trying to get his address or phone number. Something I could turn him in with so he can get caught.

I am not an extortionist. By saying how much are you willing to pay me is just talking the same language a thief would use.

Anyways, he is at it again......

So...you're a thief, not an extortionist. Got it. Don't worry, I know your intentions are good (gaining scambusting fame).
Anyways I wish you luck, supersleuth.

p.s.- Don't read this as sarcasm, I just would rather keep him from using my pics and stop there without getting too involved.

p.s.- Dude everyone's a dude.
