Lappy Insurince?

Well, I am almost done collecting my money and almost ready to order my r3000z.

Things I have to do before I order:
-save up a few more $100
-go to best buy and give it a test drive
-deside on protection policy
-order

i bring you here today because of point #3

First things first, does anybody here have a policy for their lappy with Allstate? How much? How good is it?

Moving on. Compaq offers a typical 1 year parts and labor for free, and then they also offer a few extanded programs.

------------------------------------------------------

Those are their plans and prices. I am planning to keep my 3000z for about 3 to 4 years but it will spend most of it's life at home and i am not a very frequent traveller, and when i travel, i do it by car so airports cant mess with me. I don't need the "Total One" solution so that is eliminated right away.

Right now I am favoring 3 Year Express Repair for $179.99. However, the 2 year accidental damage for $250 looks good. $70 for 2 years of total piece of mind.

I am not worried much about theft. And yes, I will buy a proper bag for it right away.

For my type of life....do i really need accidental damage? Seeling as I'll keep food away from it so no spilled coke on my keyboard.

What does the Allstate Policy cover. Theft and Accidental Damage?

i have to say its a little large on the length. wish it was more snugged tight, its the smallest one they had....oh well, very nice product.....recommend to anyone.

you get medium? or large?
neither......got the 12" shinza, for the asus s5ne. the laptop seems to slip down into a groove if i hold the sleeve by its width facing up....leaving about an inch free above....i think i can buy some black styro foam at a craft store and plug that spot up.

i was typing fast and didnt really pay much attention to spelling and grammar. so how about some real answers?
but it is so much more fun to make fun and point out peoples short comings

abf: re-read your thread to see what you said about where you'd be keeping your lappy. It's obvious that accidental damage protection isn't neccessary for you. Instead of shelling out the dough for protection, consider buying a spelling book.
JK, jk
don't know about allstate.

i am comfortable with my english thanks. i just dont pay attention when doing stuff online and all. and with 3 languages and counting learned, i am no dumbass. anyway. yeah, thats exactly what i was thinking, screw accidental damage and just get a perhaps 2 years mail-in service. or seeing if i get a lemon, that would be preaty clear-cut for me within the first year. oh the choices.

When one doesn't "pay attention when doing stuff online" and makes those kind of spelling errors, that's not negligence but rather not knowing how to spell. Misspelling "sadl;y" by accidently pressing an adjacent key is what one would call a negligent spelling error. When you spell "insurance" "insurince," that would be considered that the person has no clue how to spell the word rather than not paying attention.

Regarding the notebook, if it's fine one year and you take care of it, three years shouldn't be necessary.

I know three languages as well. English, Spanish, and Latin. And I can spell correctly! I win!

Oh whatever! Yeah, I just I just got scared when my friend told me he dropped his ThinkPad and thought i might need a plan to cover my Either way, I guess I don't need it after all. I will just stick with the inluded 1 year parts and "labour". Well...at least this was a fun grammar bashing thread :-D

The only plus I see about spending a lot of money on a laptop is because suddenly, it is worth more than your life and you'll do anything to make sure nothing happens to it.
