Hello guys!

I write you from Spain, and I am considering buying an ASUS laptop (M6000N series). The model I saw is a 1.5 Centrino, 512 DDR (333), Ati 9600 64 Mb, 40 Gb, 15"4 WXGA Screen, combo, etc. I'd like to know any user opinion so i can get answer to this questions:

1.- What about the screen? Is it a good one (I could not find out who made it)
2.- Which rpm does the HD have?
3.- Any other information would be useful

Thanks for all!!

I know that ASUS has been using SAMSUNG LCD's in some of their laptops, I'm not sure about this specific one though.

For the RPM of the Hard drive, you'll have to ask the reseller. But if it's 4200, I'd ask for a faster one.

Do some advanced searches on this forum for asus in the notebook general and other catagories. You'll find some good info about the m6n there.

Asus M6000n

Hey Orb, thanks for the advice. I looked into the forum and found quite interesting opinions and reviews of this notebook. I really think it's a good choice... The main problem with ACER is that Acer's support in Spain is really disgusting. I found a website (www.quejasonline.com, www.complaintsonline.com) where you can find at least 20 querys about furious users, complaining about ACER's IBERICA (Acer in Spain) technical support and guarantee uncompliment. On the other side, a friend of mine just bought the DELL inspiron 8600c throgh DELL's official website in Spain, and he's very happy with it. But I know that DELL does not build their own laptop's, not ASUS that I suppose that builds the mainboad, and DELL offers only one year guarantee (increasing this period is so €€€€€!!). So, I think I'll finally buy the ASUS... I trust it's good!!

Byez!!

I am staring at my Asus M6ns samsung screen now. Its very crisp and clear. Cant go wrong with a samsung screen, IMO.

Your config is a little on the slow side. I would say, get a 7200rpm drive with an 8 med cache. Otherwise, setup looks good.

Thats my opinion

Asus M6000n

Thanks for the information, Eric. I heard some time ago that Dell had Hitachi TFT's, and that they changed to Samsung 'couse they had many problems with it. Every day it passes the Asus option gets stronger... I might go to the shop and ask for all the models they have. That's a cool thing... If I bought a Dell, i should buy it through the Internet, and I prefer watch and touch before buying.

Thanks for all!!

With a decent M6n setup, you are probly looking at an internet purchase there as well.

The new W1 has a 2 year global warranty through Asus right now- walk into any support center anywhere on the planet, and they repair it on the spot. I am upgrading to that from my m6n. Basically the same components, better screen and comes with DVD +- burner. But I love my M6n too. Asus just makes some great stuff.

But by all means, if you get a chance to go touchy feely, do so. Just know your pricing before you walk in to a store. They will be more expensive than online of course, but how much is to be of concern. Also, warranty. Some of the internet shops are offering a 3 year warranty, free with the unit. Another reason I am moving to the W1- getting another 2 years on my warranty. I use mine for my business, about 4 hours a day at min, so I need some serious protection.

HTH
