AMD64 mobile 2800+ vs AMD64 DTR 3400+

What do you guys think,

Is the powersavings and less heat that the low voltage AMD mobile 2800+ worth the hit in clock speed and performance that the 3400+ has?

My final choices for a notebook are the Ferrari 3200 and the Game PC's GPN-A64B.

Suggestions?

def go for the low voltage :P

more battery time the better

the diference in that kind of cpu power is negligable interms of real time performance... you'd only see the difference in synthetic benchmarks

The Ferrari 3200 doesn't seem to last all that much longer than say the MiTac 8355 on battery power, and the mitac uses dtr's. On battery you aren't using the full power on either of them, they're both clocked down with PowerNow or whatever it is. Rince you had the 8355 what kind of real life battery time did you get out of it? Do you really think that the GPN-A64B would be much different in battery life?

the mitac8335 uses a 12 cell battery

the ferrari 3200 uses an 8
That explains it.
are there any low voltage amd notebooks with a 12 cell yet?

there is the compaq r3000z if you equip it with Athlon XP-M 1.6mhz but if you mean AMD64, can't think of one right now.
Well, I actually you can customize that compaq with a 12-cell and an AMD64...just from looking though.

Are you sure about that rincewind? I checked out the configuration on the GamePc and it said it was only an 8 cell battery. See link:

right. but he wants a mobile amd, the compaqs come either with a XP-M or a desktop AMD64 chipo.

So they do, my bad...
i think....whats the orange AMD64 sticker?
Mobile is definently red...Saw it on my Emachines ...Sry for not noticing...teehee

That link is NOT to a mitac8335.

This is a 12 cell battery

Ah... that's the confusion then. I was asking for a comparison between the Ferrari 3200 and Game PC's GPN-A64B.

I believe that the Game PC is base off Uniwills design Uniwill 258KA0 . It is simililar to the ABS Mayhem G1 but with a AMD64 processor instead of a P4.

low voltage mobile athlon64 2800+

vs

mobile athlon64? or athlon64 dtr?

if we are looking at 8 cell between tehse 2 a64's, the low one would have more batt life
post #17 of 18
Yeah, but I would still go with the regular mobile. But thats because I prefer a little mix of power and mobility...boy does it create one heck of a mix too!
Are there any comparison benchmarks for the two? I would like know how well it performs.
