acer aspire 2025

post #1 of 10

I've been looking for a good laptop for college (along with everyone else )
And at first I had my heart set on the Acer Ferrari 3200, because it was so nice looking. But after looking into it a bit the low battery life really put me off of it. So then I was seriously considering the CL56 but despite the excellence of the dothan processor and costumization and battery life, I just can't get used to its traditional laptop look (I know there are people out there who really like its look and I'm not trying to be critical of them, it just isnt' me ).

Anyways after lots of searching I finally came accross the acer aspire series which has the dothan processor and batter life i've wanted and the its look really sharp (the 2025 is alluminum, right?). Which brings me to my question(s) besides the usual acer problems of no configuring (what is it with that company?) and the slightly higher price, is there anything that people have noticed wrong or anoying about the Acer Apsire 2025?

Thanks in advance for you guys' help and sorry about my terrible spelling

There is a review of the acer 2025 on the review section of this forum. check it out. One other laptop you might consider is the mitac 8050 which is essentially like the acer 2025 except it is customizable. Check it out at rjtech.com
P.S. your spelling isn't that bad.

the 2025 is a great machine, the reason some people favor the cl56/m6n/mitac machines over them is because you can get them for cheaper. the 2025 tends to run a bit steep.

the other machines aren't alluminum tho

But aluminum isn't necessary. If you drop a metal laptop, it's more prone to dent.
Dents=not sexy.

if you drop a plastic laptop, it's more prone to death.
death = not sexy.

drop may be too strong of a word. how about "bump." i'm much more prone to bump a laptop against a table and dent it than drop it

Yah i noticed that it was about 2200, but i think i would be willing to pay the extra for the look. How easy would it be to dent though? I never thought about that.

The only aluminum parts I can see on my Acer are the top cover and the mouse buttons.

i think it won't likely dent.. there's believe it or not actual stuff in the laptop so if it were to dent it'd more likely crack the parts inside first such as the lcd, harddrive, motherboard.. etc. etc. that its covering

plastic would do the same presumably but its not softer or anyhting so alluminum should withstand it better. but the overal attraction is the look.. everything is going alluminum from refridgerators to bbqs and clipboards
