is anyone else scared of gaming too much on their laptop because the lettering on the keys will rub off? i have a compal cl56 and i can feel like the letters are going to come off... anyone have a good solution to this? (other than cut my fingernails, which i keep short)

You can place a thin layer of plastic cover on each individual key...

Hey, I am new to the board but how about using an external device? You can either use another keyboard or use the nostromo n52. The nostromo costs like $25 shipped from buy.com. As long as you have a free USB port for the device and your mouse, you should be good to go. I use the nostromo on my desktop and will also use it with whatever laptop that I go with. This will also keep you from getting hot hands from the laptop as well.

do the letters really rub off that easy on laptops? i had my Dell Quiet Key PS/2 board for over 3 years and still looks good as new (minus a few stains due to spilled orange juice).

Where do you get replacement parts for the Compal? I didn't realize that you could buy replacement parts for laptops.

local distributor hookup...they sell for 17 dollars canadian. That's the only significant replacement I could find, other stuff is normal, like optical drives and wireless cards, etc.

they have everything in canada. Or at least where turanuk lives.

you cant take the cl56 keyboard and stick it in the aopen1557g

well you could, but some keys wouldnt work right as each are setup in eachs bios differently

Are there any on-line suppliers that carry replacement parts for laptops. I am leaning toward picking up a cl56, and would like to know if it is possible to get replacement parts.

If you don't know where all the keys are without labels by now, you should be slapped :P
