right now i'm using Sony MDR-J10's ($10 at circuit city ), but when i get my new comp i'm getting either grado sr80's or zalman theater 5.1s and an echo indigo card. and it's the RS-1, not SR-1; the SR is their lower end line (but not by much IMO )
turanuk, you would not believe how amazing the RS-1's sound. i got dragged into some stupid audiophile store by my cousin once and in there they had a pair of RS-1's that they were letting people try out, and i swear to god it was so fxcking amazing!!!!!!!! like you were sitting right on stage with the band!
I've heard the plantronic's dsp-500s are really nice, not too expensive ($65 from newegg), and have an onboard dsp, so they entirely circumvent the crappy laptop soundcard. I don't have a pair myself, but would like to eventually get them.
really? kewl that sounds pretty nice...but i have yet to find an external soundcard that can beat mah echo-indigo ($100, will order next week )! those are supposed to be the best notebook audio solution right? or should i just get an audigy 2nx?
