I believe you are right. But i'll still take the G1 over the alienware. The glowing alien eyes are neat for a while but i definitely would not take it with me to use in a presentation.

In short, there isn't a notebook out there yet that is lighter than the G3 and has the same specs and performance. The only other notebook with similar specs is the Voodoo: m860. It weighs about the same but will make your wallet much lighter.
The G3 is ment to be a gameing/desktop replacement so a compromise to it's weight had to be made to gain performance.
So you can either go to the gym and bulk up to handle the extra 3 pounds or buy yourself a lighter more mobile notebook. I like the Ferrari myself.
