Second Hard Drive

Thread Starter
I was just looking at the configurator of the 8886, and was wondering why the 60gb hd isnt an option in the 2nd hard drive slot. Yeah, maybe i can just buy the primary of 60 gb (4200) and the secondary of 40gb (5200) and swap them (since im interested in having the performance drive as my main drive, and the second to store music, pictures, video, etc, bid drive)
So my question is, why it isn't avaliable as an option? Just want to know...maybe the physical sizes are different.

No, the physical size is the same as you can see from the breakdown I did in the review section. It's because of a very limited quantity available and it's their high cost. You could easily swap them around after getting the notebook, or the reseller you purchase from may be able to request the 60GB be put in the bay. Once Toshiba gets it going I'm guessing the 60GB price will go back down and be an option in all systems and locations.

Plus, the 60 gig 4200 rpm hard drive offered by toshiba (I THINK) has the same access speeds as the 40 gig 5400 rpm one... PCTorque might be able to verify/nullify this. But if I'm not mistaken, the higher density enables faster access speeds. I will check on it when I'm back on a high speed connection, but right now I'm on a dialup and it's annoying, lol. The only reason I mention the thing about the hard drives is because you mentioned wanting the performance one internal (not in the bay I mean), and the 60 gig might not be any slower practically. Anyone have experience with it?
