Alienware lappy v desktop benchmark

the lappy
3.2 1gig ram 9700 module 60gig 7200rpm HDD
vs my desktop
amd athon 2600 9600xt 512 ram 120hdd/w 8meg cache
The lappy's benchmarks for 3dmark03 and aquamark is slightly lower compare to my current desktop (3600s v 3400s) and (28000 v 24000)

But for some reason, when i play UT2k4 for example, the lappy loads up so much more quicker and is MUCH less choppy, less stutter than my desktop. I would of thought that becuase the benchmarks are higher on desktop, it would automatically perform better than the lappy as the benchmarks takes into consideration of RAM/chip/GPU etc?

The 7200rpm Hitachi drive is one quick bugger!

The extra ram prolly helps keep the P4 full of info better than the desktop, that's prolly why it seems smoother.
