A Very, Very Strange Question. Please Help!

Ok, I need help.

I'm 13, don't have a job and want an Alienware Area-51m Cyborg Green.

Me: Hey Mom looks at this Laptop, its perfect for my games and will be great for high school!

Mom: *She is stunned at the Pristine beauty of it (or maybe the price) She said “ask your dad.*

My Dad: Wow, That’s a nice looking computer! I have heard of those before, there supposed to be great, but quite pricey. You can have it!

ME: YES!

My Dad: If you pay for some of it.

Me: Gee-Wiz...

Now, when my dad says if you pay for some of it he means like probably $1000 of it. I’m thirteen and jobless I spent all my money Video games and a game boy SP. I'll never get enough money for it... The question is, what Strategy should I use to ask my dad if He can contribute a WEE $2,000, OK so it’s not so wee, But I’ll pay for the remaining $809. Or any amount. I know this is a strange Tread but... Any Ideas?

I guess you better spend less time playing games, and more time doing schoolwork and chores to justify/pay for the new laptop. Extra effort always helps persuade parents. To convince your dad to "chip in", make out a contract that actually has consequences (like losing your new laptop) if you don't hold up your end of the bargain.

$809 you can get if you flee bay your games, game boy, and the other computer. Aw - c'mon' I know there is another computer. And if you have skills, you can service peoples computers for a fee. Biggest things these days would be adware/virus cleanup, and networking. Home users who will pay under the table. Somebody's uncle Sam does not have to know. He's your uncle, not mine. That bastard takes my money!

Do you have any computer skills? I made $200 last week just setting up a computer. Dell charges 300, with no data transfering. You could make a killing.

I would just buy my son one if he wanted it.

There's a lesson to be learned when you have to pay for yours.

My first car was given to me. I don't remember "ever" doing an oil change on it. I guess my dad did the oild change.

Now that I pay for my car, I know how many miles since the last oil change.

If hes willing to pay $1000, that is a great offer. You shouldnt be dissapointed at all. If you want to have one of the best computers around, your going to need to prolly get a job. It will be more satisfying in the long run even though it doesnt seem like it now.

Or you could be one of the fortunate few who just get their mommy or daddy to pay for it all.

Me, ive been working since october saving up, and its now june and i have enough. My parents might have helped me pay for it, but i do not ask my parents for money, and prolly never will.

I think I'll buy stuff cheap and sell it on ebay. I made $70 of a lemonade sale Buuuuuuuuutttt I did it with 4 people aannnnnnnnnnd all i did was bring cups and I only stayed for 10 min, so I only got $15, still not bad for bringing cups.

thats very commendable, but i do think there's no harm in asking ur parents for some money - u can have certain expectations from ur parents.

but u shouldnt force them into an awkward position on it - eg. pressuring/ emotional blackmail etc - lol

remember - someday u might b a parent, and u can reciprocate for ur kid
its all cyclic - hmmm....... enough of the philosophy

best of luck with ur self-effort

Its not that easy for a 13 year old to earn a thousand dollars. Have you checked with your school to see if they offer a summer work program? You might be able to make what you need before school starts.

Learn how to detail cars I pay the kid down the street $50.00 a car to do mine “I have two cars” and he does my girlfriend's car as well as my little brother's. I let him do it every other week so he makes $400.00 a month just from my brother, girlfriend and me. He also does a lot of other cars in the neighborhood.

Wait...

Why do you need a laptop for high school?
A laptop won't:

Get you laid
Pass your exams
Impress people

So ... if you don't have money, GO find a job ... not hard at all. At that age, doing a paper round or helping out around the house for money isn't hard. The law is, you have to work hard for what you want. There's no easy way, face it ...

Wow, 13 year olds wanting $3000 computers. What is this world coming to?
A laptop can:

Help you masterbate cause you can't get laid
Help you download a pre-written term paper to make up for getting an "F" on exams
Can make you feel better about yourself since everyone else things you are a loser
