A Very, Very Strange Question. Please Help! - Page 2

Hey, im 13 too. I got mine through alot of work. No, not work that gets you money, but school work. I applied myself, and proved to my parents that i was worthy of this laptop. Also, im takin some courses at computer schools, which adds on. If you do good in school, and make an improvement, I think that is enough reason. Thats my 2 cents

To those who make money fixing computers, how do you find clients?

Unless there is a very important reason you need a laptop for high school, buy or build a desktop. A desktop will be cheaper and better at gaming. Also, you can upgrade it down the line to last much longer than the laptop. If you don't need a laptop, don't get one. I also suggest not using the line "its perfect for my games" when trying to persuade your parents.

It's REQUIRED that I have a Laptop for high school at my school. But yea if I didn't need one that would be what I would do.

Why is it required?

And generally, schools don't require $3000 laptops. You could get a Sentia, or look at another brand.

But now that I think about it, my school has a laptop cart with about 20 apple macs on it... why don't they just let us use those? Hmmmm, Alienwares better though.

When I was 13 I picked my nose and dug holes in my backyard for no apparent reason...

I'm 30 and still pick the schnoz...I currently don't own a shovel.

A lot of schools in California giving PDF text books to students that have laptops. They are not required to have laptops and some schools in LAUSD are got IBM T40 Thinkpads that were donated by IBM for students who’s parent’s can not afford to buy a laptop for their kids.

Just my opinion, but giving laptops to high schoolers is not the smartest thing in the world. There were a bunch of ****heads at my school who I wouldn't trust with a Gameboy.

In the library at my school, they had to superglue the mice shut so that people wouldn't take the balls out. Those mice sucked because there was no way to clean them.

Asking dad for money-$1000
Asking mom for money-$500

Waiting till your a taxpaying adult with a full time job and buying things with money earned with your OWN blood, sweat, and tears-Priceless

Keeping in mind that half the planet's 13 year olds are starving also helps.

Sorry if this bursts your hermetically sealed bubble...or cuts your apron strings, whatever the case.

Did I say I was all for giving kids in high school laptops? I don’t think that it is a good idea but a lot of schools are going to be doing so soon. It is just a fact and if you have to have one why not have an Area-51m so you can frag you friends during lunch.

My point was not that I thought you were an idiot for wanting to give laptops to students, but that the school district was doing something stupid.

I agree they could spend their money in better ways like paying teachers more.
