Who actually uses their laptop... ON THEIR LAP?

I was just wondering... a lot of laptops actually get too hot to sit on you lap. Not only that... s'kinda hard to play ut2k4 with a touchpad.. unless you are a ungodly beast.

I'm sure many people use it on their lap for something like Word or something like that... but really, I don't think many people are actually utilizing laptops like their name states

I know I won't... Probably 1/2 laptop, 1/2 on my desk(when I get mine). I intend to whip out my TRACKBALL. Thats right, I game with a trackball. Whos with me!?

Anyway, thoughts?

I am sitting here, watching CSI and replying to this forum post, Laptop on Lap. I use an external full-size Logitech optical mouse. The couch is my mousepad.

I am sitting on my lanai that overlooks a golf course with a not too distant view of Honolulu and Waikiki Beach with my laptop on my lap writing this response.

Sweet. That's exactly what i plan do with mine sometimes. I tend to have those extended dumps during the school year.

I've been thinking about doing that. But then I realize how weird that would be.

Case closed.

Nah, if you do it, I envy you. Must be kinda neat. Anyway, enough about my fantasies.

Thats really scary. but really really funny.

nah, i have the stand but rarely use it. the passenger uses it mostly when i go war driving.

War driving? Are you driving a tank? I though i would get one when i first learned to drive for safety reasons but never did. Its too bad that cannon would be great for parking.

my 15.4" WXGA 8lbs monster will be a pain on the lap, and seeing as the fans are on the bottom, flat surface does this notebook best. however, when things come to ditching my comfy leather office chair i am in right now to use my desktop, for a leasurely sit on my IKEA (forgot model) deck chair w/footrest, sure, i'd have no problem with it on my lap. and the built in 54g wifi (hoping to buy a 54g router soon) will let me have those extanded dumps.

Mine is on my lap 95% of the time. I usually have it on my lap sitting on my lazyboy and watching my 65" HDTV directly in front of me, right over the LCD of my laptop. I do try to space my legs so that the vents get enough air, but it really never gets too warm. I use a microsoft notebook mouse to game. It works pretty well on the arm of my leather lazyboy. Otherwise I usually just use the touchpad.

Hehe... Teegun, I too use my notebook on my lap when watching TV on the 65inch HDTV we have in the living room. The other day I was watching Band of Brothers on it and I got an urge to play some ww2 game, so I loaded up MOH:AA and then Call of Duty.

The cl56 does fine on my lap, gets a little warm... I usually clock the cpu down and just use internet while watching conan or some other tv show.

Same thing here... I use SpeedswitchXP. I usualy have it on dynamic switching... but on max battery it gets locked at 600mhz.

Using jeans the heat is almost un-noticable. However, the other day after playing some intense games on my bed, I put the notebook on my stomach by accident, and it burned bad for a little.

how come u guys dont let speedstep do it for u?

"put always on" and it will run full blast

"put portable/laptop" and it will gauge its speed accordingly
